For the last couple years, fashion it girls and luxury brands have been moving away from the athleisure sets that dominated the early 2020s to something a little more structured. From Matilda Djerf’s oversized blazers to Bella Hadid’s severe 90s glasses, office wear accents have been popping up in tastemakers’ wardrobes, driving the fashion world toward 2024’s biggest trend. Enter, “corpcore” – a recently-minted combination of several micro trends including office siren and stealth wealth, all centered around playful tweaks on previously seriously unfashionable business casual wear.
This nostalgia for 1980s-2000s office culture might be a response to the sweatpants-heavy trends born out of lockdown, but the fashion world isn’t just xeroxing archival looks and creating exact dupes. Much of the comfort-first ethos of the 2020s has spilled into this trend. Clothes are structured, but loose. Looks that seem structured are in fact made from plush, comfy materials. This playfulness has updated the trend in a way that can be embraced by Gen Zers who have never stepped foot in an office, and Millennials with office cooler PTSD.
Whether you’re gearing up to go back to the office or just want to cosplay as Harper from Industry, read on for our essential corpcore trend style guide:
The first must-have in any corpcore uniform is a fitted button down. J.Crew has the best classic button downs for the money, well-fitted but comfortable. Size up or down depending on whether you’re going for sleek office siren or a more corporate-girl-off-duty look.

The essential corpcore accessory is the 90s-inspired narrow bayonetta eyeglasses loved by Bella Hadid. Warby Parker makes a great rectangular pair – whether you need a prescription or not.

After being a frontrunner in the girlcore / bow trends of 2023, LES it girl brand Sandy Liang is pursuing a more tailored, corpcore influenced look. This fitted jacket and mini skirt are a throwback to Ally McBeal’s tailored skirt suits. I love the sophisticated tailoring and richly textured brown fabric.

The perfect corpcore fit is nothing without the perfect loafer. These buffed leather loafers from Maryam Nassir Zadeh would look perfect with a white crew sock and could pair with pants or a skirt.

The pointy toe kitten heel is back with a vengeance. If you want a corpcore shoe with a little more of a femme vibe than a loafer, but with edgy unique detailing, this pair from Vagabond is pretty perfect.

If we actually had a high paying corporate job, or we were to really splurge on a corpcore accessory, it would be this perfect Thom Browne briefcase-inspired purse. No one does cheeky high fashion like Thom Browne, and the brand’s signature uniform-inspired look translates perfectly to the structured silhouettes of the corpcore trend. The brass closure on this smaller version of the iconic Mr. Thom tote is simply gorgeous.
