From Brat Summer to new seasons of Emily in Paris and The Bear, 2024 was full of iconic pop culture moments. We’ve taken a look back at the year so far to put together costumes that are on-trend and instantly recognizable.
There’s nothing worse than showing up at a Halloween party and having to explain roughly 1,000 times to totally blank faces that you’re Cate Blanchett in Tár, or combing through your closet last minute trying to cobble together a costume (guilty on both counts). So let us take the guesswork out of Halloween prep this year with some surefire costumes that are unique, creative, and undeniably iconic.

Brat Summer:
2024 was undeniably Charli XCX’s year. After a massive 2023 hit on the Barbie soundtrack and her new album “brat” dominated this summer, Charli’s finally gone from being your favorite artist’s favorite artist to a pop star in her own right. There are a million iconic looks in her music videos and on her celeb-filled press tour, but the easiest way to channel Charli this Halloween is by throwing together a vibey slime green “brat summer” costume.
Yasmin from Industry:
Yasmin (played by Marisa Abela) has been a stealth wealth icon on HBO’s Industry for years now, but the show’s hit 3rd season gave us her best looks yet. Thrust into the eye of the UK’s notoriously invasive tabloids, Yas covered up with oversized sunglasses, St Moritz baseball caps, and cocoon-like coats. This may finally be the answer to finding a costume that’s both cute and warm. Bonus points if you get your best frenemy to go with you as Harper (Myha’la).
Emily in Paris…in Italy:
The latest season of Emily In Paris saw Francophile Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) falling for Italy. Emily’s wardrobe for her Roman adventure drew from classic Audrey Hepburn film Roman Holiday. Channel Emily’s classic style with a full skirt, kerchief, and adorable gingham jacket.
Glen Powell Twisters Press Tour (ft. Brisket):
If Charli XCX dominated music this summer, Glen Powell dominated the theaters. From Hit Man to Twisters, he was everywhere. A bonus: he was often toting his very cute dog Brisket. Press stunt? Yes. Easy costume if you or your partner have a gray suit lying around? Also yes. Bonus points for windswept Twisters hair.

The Bear Chefs:
Emmy-favorite FX series The Bear has made waves for its selvedge denim and perfect white tee clad lead, Carmy (Jeremy Allen-White), but our favorite look from the show for this Halloween is a classic kitchen look. Like working in a kitchen, Halloween parties mean spending a lot of time of your feet, and our coolest chef friends recommended the perfect Calzuro clogs to keep you comfy. This one could be a great group costume – buy some aprons in bulk and staff out a whole kitchen’s worth of chefs with your friends.
Whether you’re extremely online or have barely checked in to 2024’s biggest pop culture moments, our 2024 Halloween style guide has got the perfect pop culture-inspired costume for you.
