Like most people, I’ve emerged from the pandemic era with a newfound zeal for travel– and loungewear. While my family will attest that I’ve spent the better part of my life traveling in what some may refer to as pajamas, I took it upon myself to level up my travel wear game and not look like That American Tourist on my recent trip to Italy. The answer? Travel jumpsuits.
Why jumpsuits? Jumpsuits are sophisticated onesies for adults. Traveling in the right jumpsuit is like moving through the world in your own cocoon of comfort, with no sacrifices made. If you find yourself sprinting from Terminal Four to Terminal One in the Madrid airport? No problem, jumpsuits have the best range of motion. Need some shut-eye? You’re set for success (as noted above, the jumpsuit is part of the onesie family tree). Best of all, rocking a travel jumpsuit means you always look put together— with minimal effort involved. There will be no changing in the bathroom for you when you get where you’re going.
Behold some of my favorite travel jumpsuits that belong in your suitcase.

With a relaxed utility vibe, this jumpsuit is your one-and-done travel staple, at once practical and fashionable thanks to its unique Seeded Ecru coloring. Each time I have worn this Everlane jumpsuit, strangers have approached me with compliments and questions about where it came from— a brand-new phenomenon in my life.

There’s no brand I trust more than Athleta when I’m hanging out in down dog or trekking through the woods. It comes as no surprise then that the athleisure brand makes a killer travel jumpsuit. Meet the Athleta Brooklyn Heights Wide Leg Jumpsuit ($139): it’s light-as-air, skims over your body, and is just as posh as its neighborhood namesake.

If, like me, you never pictured yourself traveling in faux leather anything, I implore you to imagine greater possibilities for yourself. Namely, the Commando Faux Leather Cami Catsuit. Its firming, light compression fabric is smoothing and ultra-flattering, hugging your body in the best possible way. Thanks to its four-way stretch, this catsuit feels like it was sculpted for you personally. It’s the best piece to have for those times (like your best friend’s bachelorette weekend) when your bustling itinerary starts the exact moment you land. Pair it with a sharp blazer, swap your sneakers for a set of heels, and you’ll be ready for anything.

While cozy typically brings to mind winter knits, The Free People Jet Set Life Jumpsuit is cozy in its own ethereal, California-cool way. With a scoop neckline, Henley-T features, and an exaggerated wide-leg shape, this jumpsuit is all about casual comfort. It also stands out for its adaptability: you can easily wear it to the beach, but it pairs well with a sweater until you get there.

There are plenty of reasons to love the Brunno Co Amelia Recycled Travel Jumpsuit. For starters, it looks effortlessly chic. What makes it even better is that Brunna Co is a brand you can feel good about sporting: it’s sustainable, engages in ethical working practices, and is woman-owned. Plus, the jumpsuit is made from certified recycled fabric made from plastic water bottles— not that it feels like it!

It is as if the kind people of Spiritual Gangster heard me plead, Joggers, but make it fashion when they made the Ballet Rib Jumpsuit. The soft ribbed material is soft enough to sleep in, and the smock waist elevates the piece into an outfit. You’ll throw it on without thinking— and be glad later that you did.

The Frank & Eileen Ireland Long-Sleeve Playsuit is a piece to invest in: made from beautiful Italian performance linen that comes in several rich, earthy, natural tones, the playsuit is worth its price tag. The shorts and long-sleeve combo is fun, flattering, and well-suited for warm-weather travel. Of course, this piece should hardly be restricted to vacation time; it can become a cornerstone of your everyday wardrobe.

Our favorite travel pieces are meant to handle the wear of adventure, and no brand understands that quite like Patagonia. That’s why the Garden Island Jumpsuit is made from durable plain-weave fabric. Loose and breathable, it’s one of the best jumpsuits to pack if you’re headed somewhere humid.
