It’s the dawn of one of my favorite astrological seasons. Eclipses be damned, I’m a Libra: October rocks, and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. While I cover all of TQE’s astrological content, I was literally born to write this fool-proof guide to pleasing your favorite Libra.
Known for their sartorial acumen, exquisite taste, and appreciation for beauty (these are unbiased facts), the Libra you love probably cites gift-giving as one of their primary love languages and shows up to your dinner party with a bundle of flowers, a bottle of wine or Ghia, and a treat or two. And yet, because they’re people pleasers and social harmonizers, they’ll pretend to love whatever you pick out for them (trust me, we also love to perform). Follow this gift guide to spoil the Libra you love with something they’ll actually love – and read till the end for my bonus list of hyper-specific gifts I’d either love to receive or have gifted-to-self.

As an avid "You" wearer, I was initially hesitant about extending our fragrance portfolio when we began testing new perfumes in the office years before the launch. I believed that if we were to introduce a new scent, it needed to be truly exceptional. Among the many impressive fragrances we considered, "Doux," a universal sweet woody scent, stood out when it landed on my skin. It changed my perspective on being committed solely to the original "You" scent. It's gratifying to know that as a team, we made a choice that has been well-received by our customers, affirming the quality and appeal of our new fragrance line.

First, Flowers
A Libra birthday requires a floral element. You’ll earn their love (and eternal respect) if you bestow your Libra with a flower, be it picked from a community garden or selected from the finest floral artist your area (or the internet) has to offer.
Start with local options, because supporting your neighborhood florist or flower market is one of the greatest gifts of all. For flowers that deliver anywhere, try Floom (which finds local florists for you), Bouqs, or Farmgirl Flowers.
A floral gift can come in many forms. If your Libra is homeopathically oriented, select the perfect Flower Remedy for some delightful medicine from the earth. Wooden Spoon Herb’s Rose-Colored Glasses tincture is a fool-proof avenue to bless them with some bliss. And for pure, unadulterated floral indulgence: Flamingo Estate’s California Native Wildflower Honey, made with native wildflowers harvested from the Los Angeles Mountains. Splurge on the Garden Tour Set for the Libra who deserves the finest (read: all of them).
For The Lover Of Print, Literature, Fine Art, And EXPERIENCES
The Libra you know is spending any idle day exploring a gallery or art museum, or obsessing over the pages of their favorite design magazine. They’re definitely checking their Vogue Runway and Pinterest apps far more often than Instagram (speaking from personal experience). For a unique gift that’ll deliver benefits throughout the whole year, buy them a membership to a local museum or art library, or select a print editorial subscription (or three) you think they might like. Don’t overlook substack. Might I suggest Apartamento, The Paris Review, or a stack of vintage issues of Vogue or Vanity Fair? You can gift a subscription to Substack, because it’s 2024: a Libra will love Emilia Petrarca’s Shop Rat, Sam Rogers’ Sam Loves The Market, and Emily Sundbergh’s Feed Me. Think of local museums or galleries that have membership programs (in LA, The Huntington and Norton Simon are my shining stars) – and if your Libra might enjoy spending a little more time amidst all that fine art and beauty.
Because a Libra is likely to immediately acquire any material object they desire, you might consider gifting them a unique experience. To really knock it out of the park, set them up with a rockstar facial. Formula Fig is my go-to; whether your Libra pops in for microdermabrasion or lymphatic massage, they’ll be in good hands. If they live in LA, send them to an OSEA facial in Venice, and meet them after for brunch. I’ve also just received breaking news from a friend that LA facialist Julia Barna’s one-of-a-kind treatments are life-changing. You just won “best gift giver ever,” thank me later.
Hug Them From Afar With Some Beautiful Outerwear
Libras know their style. (But that doesn’t mean gifting them clothing is off the table – I’ll help.) They’re typically wearing the designer you won’t learn about for another year, or something vintage you’ll never find, but they’ll always fall head-over for a well-made classic. It’s their birthday month and also autumn: you can’t go wrong with cashmere. Jenni Kayne is making some of the best cashmere in the game – pick the Amelia crewneck to keep them cozy from now through April, or the more delicate Finley cardigan for infinite layering. Ciao Lucia continues to supply textbook classic sweaters, from thick cotton turtlenecks to adorable striped alpaca-wools. And let’s not forget about Gigi Hadid’s remarkably good Guest In Residence, for all your truly perfect cashmere cardigan and crewneck needs.
If they don’t already have a barn coat, pick a quality jacket they’ll wear for decades from Filson or J. Crew (don’t be afraid to dip into the Men’s section – in fact, head directly there, because this limited-edition jacket is holding a top spot on my wishlist).
And no Libra will turn down a pair of perfect denim. PAIGE is making the definitive best pair of new denim that looks, feels, and fits like your favorite pair of vintage Levi’s, minus the endless searching for the perfect size. For a longer inseam and a looser fit, turn to RE/DONE’s High Rise Loose options.
Fragrances Galore
Friends have told me that they can smell the scent of my home before they’ve even stepped through the front door – by memory and expectation. I believe this to be true of most Libras: their homes are not just curated exquisitely to their taste, but they are also marked by carefully selected candles and incense. Here, a few brands you might consider shopping (for their aesthetic and olfactory deliciousness):
- Maison Louis Marie
- LE FEU DE L'EAU
- Cinnamon Projects
- Diptyque (THE LOTION!)
- P.F. Candle Co.
- Atmos Diffusers
And let’s not forget their personal scent:
Something Sparkly Because They Are A Libra
If you haven’t gotten the gist by now, Libras are Material Girls, through and through (I say this with love and not judgment, as I myself am a Libra who worships at the altar of beautiful objects). You’re leaving money on the table – literally – if you’re not tossing them a little jewelry on their special day. Here are some pieces and brands that are catching my eye:
