If you followed Joan Vassos’ journey as the first Golden Bachelorette, you probably fell in love with her as easily as her now-fiance Chock Chapple did. An active mom and grandmother, Vassos’ motto is “age is just a number,” and she’s showing no signs of slowing down. With Valentine’s Day around the corner, we asked the Golden Bachelorette herself about the gifts she’d want to receive. Chock, if you’re reading, take notes!
Vassos eats sweets daily and especially loves the soft and ample cookies from Crumbl. She keeps an eye on the weekly rotating flavors and says she has “a hard time going a whole week without trying the specialty flavors.”

While filming the Golden Bachelorette, Vassos set her alarm for an hour earlier than necessary to give herself a few moments “with no one telling me what to do” before cameras went up. In every hotel room, she always had a producer bring a Nespresso machine and milk frother. She started every day with a shot of espresso, steamed milk, and a set of chilled patches under her eyes.

If she starts her day with caffeine, Vassos loves to close it out with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. She recently discovered Cloudy Bay, which she likes, but she’s always been a fan of Kim Crawford wines. The Illuminate Sauvignon Blanc contains 70 calories per glass, which Joan calls “a great deal.” During filming, she shared a glass with her producers every night to discuss the next day’s plan.

Vassos’ 92-year-old mom still wears Boucheron daily, and now Vassos loves to spritz it on to remind her of her mom. A new bottle of a timeless perfume is always a thoughtful gift for your valentine.

Vassos says she knows she’s “supposed” to eat dark chocolate, but she’s a die-hard for milk. Lindt truffles are her favorites and make an excellent and budget-friendly V-day gift.

For a practical gift that offers relief from muscle and joint pain, Vassos swears by Aspercreme. She’s active and involved with her young grandchildren, but aches and pains are inevitable. The cream contains lidocaine, which immediately eases sore muscles. The best part, according to Vassos, is that it’s odor-free — she swears it doesn’t have a trace of that minty medicinal odor that leaves you smelling “like your grandmother.”

Chapple wanted the pair to have matching luggage for their frequent trips since the show. After asking Vasoss to do the research, Chapple gifted them both with a full set of Rimowa luggage, which Vassos says is the nicest luggage she’s ever had. She’s also a big proponent of packing cubes—a tip she picked up on a girl’s trip with Golden Bachelorette ladies. “Right now it’s all about packing for me because we travel so much,” she says.

Chock, if you’re reading this, keep scrolling. If you’re curious about what Vassos is treating her valentine to on February 14th, she plans to continue her quest to upgrade his shoe collection, which she says is “not good.” She’s eyeing a nice pair of designer sneakers to compliment the dress shoes he got for Christmas.
