No matter how hard I try, I have always struggled to maintain good posture. When I’m working, I find myself slouching; at the gym, I have to remind myself to keep my shoulders back. So, when I heard about these posture-correcting bras from Forme I was immediately intrigued.
The bras have been designed especially to help the body find its ideal alignment and keep your back straight. By helping to maintain better posture, Forme bras aim is to reduce pain and stiffness, and improve exercise or sports performance. By offsetting these issues, investing in one of these bras seems like a no brainer. I deep dived into how they work to see if they are really as good as they claim to be.
Do posture correcting bras really work?
I was slightly skeptical about whether a bra can really improve your posture and alleviate minor back issues, but similar to wearing the correct shoes—a well fitted bra is actually incredibly important to helping you maintain a healthy stance. When Taylor Swift was spotted wearing a Forme bra in rehearsals for her grueling world tour, it was almost enough to convince me that I definitely needed one straight away. Think of them almost like the bra version of crocs. While they may not be as pretty as a silk lace balconette bra, if they improve your posture they are more than worthy of a place in your underwear drawer.
In saying that, posture bras cannot work miracles and for any serious back problems (in that case, it’s always best to see a medical professional). Posture bras are part of an overall more preventive method to help you avoid aches and pains and in addition to stretching and regular exercise they can help to set you on the right track to maintaining good posture.
What is a posture-correcting bra?
So what makes a posture bra so special and how do they differ from regular bras? First off, posture bras don’t have any wires. The Forme bras are constructed from patented lightweight tensile materials designed to enhance muscle memory for biofeedback and proprioception. They don’t use regular cup sizes and instead have thicker straps to help encourage the body to remain upright and prevent slouching.
It uses double-fabric panels to support key-muscle groups and guide the body into better posture and alignment. With consistent wear, the goal is to develop your own muscle memory to stay in optimum alignment.

The original posture bra from Forme, the Power bra, was designed with the help of an orthopedic surgeon. It can be worn for both daily wear or sleeping in and is also great to wear when traveling. I love this bra for doing yoga or pilates as it helps me get the most out of my classes by giving me a more upright stance. Because of the thicker straps and longer line, it is slightly bulkier than a standard bra , which is why I reserve it for days when I’m working from home or at the gym. It comes in six colors and there are also matching leggings in each shade.

The Revive bra has a higher neckline which helps to give it the strongest upper body support out of all the Forme bras. It definitely has more of a pull on the shoulders which makes it slightly less comfortable than the others, but if you are serious about achieving good posture or have a tendency to slouch, it is the most effective. We love the ecru shade as it is neutral enough to be worn under t-shirts and sweaters without being seen.

One downside of the Forme bras is that you are limited to what you can wear over them, but the Radiance bra is stylish enough to be worn on its own. The sheer v-cut front panel makes it cute enough to rock as a top while still providing the same level of posture correction. This is also a great pick for those with curvier bodies as it is easier to pull over and doesn’t feel as tight or restrictive.

While these bras aren’t going to resolve any chronic back issues, as a part of an overall plan to improve your posture they can definitely help. Having one of these Forme bras on hand for days when you are sitting down all day or doing weights at the gym is a great way to help keep yourself aligned correctly. The fabric feels high quality, so while they are expensive, these bras are durable and should last you a long time.
