When it comes to underwear, if I can feel it, I don’t want it. I’m a loyal Hanky Panky-wearer and it takes a lot for me to stray. I’d honestly rather go commando than have a pair that slips, slides, and rolls. Okay, maybe that’s TMI, but this all goes to show how cynical I am when trying a new brand. I was skeptical that EBY, the self-proclaimed audaciously comfortable seamless underwear brand, would change my mind. All told, after trying the undies and learning more about the brand, EBY has seriously exceeded my expectations in every way.
Intimates Empowered By You
Wondering what EBY means? Empowered By You.
The acronym encompasses everything the brand does, from creating undergarments that make people feel great in their skin to funding microfinance loans that help women around the world start their own businesses. Where do female empowerment and underwear align? They’re both essential.
It started when co-founder Renata Black was studying microfinance under Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus. Feeling inspired, she launched a loan-providing program for over 800 women in India. But, Black realized she needed a way to keep consistently providing loans to microfinance institutions. Seeing how women in India put such value on creating lingerie, Black and fellow co-founder Sofia Vergara had a lightbulb moment and created EBY, a lingerie company that positions intimates as empowering rather than simply seductive.
Small Garments, Big Impact
While most brands approach charity as an afterthought, giving back is at the core of what EBY does. More than just a brand, EBY is a social enterprise, providing 10% of proceeds to help women grow their businesses and get out of poverty through microfinance. In 2020, EBY gave over $140,000 in small loans to women around the world. These loans, which can be as little as $70, are enough to help women start their own businesses and break the cycle of poverty.

That’s what made me so fascinated about this model.
A Seamless Fit
Of course, we can’t talk about this brand without talking about its products. Across the board, everything from EBY is super comfortable. The brand has a simple selection of undergarments including bralettes, undies, and tank tops.
Everything I tried was made of a nylon/spandex blend. It’s stretchy and has a silky-smooth texture that feels amazing to the touch. There’s also a cotton/nylon blend that I imagine would be just as soft. Beyond the fabric, everything is seamless. This makes a huge difference for comfort. There are no annoying, itchy seams and even better, no panty lines.

The Signature Bralette ($45), Brief ($15), and Highwaisted Thong ($15) are a 10/10 in terms of comfort. The Bralette has more coverage than most bralettes I’ve tried. It comes with pads inside if you’re looking for a little extra boost, but you can easily take them out -- I did. I think the bralette is best suited for lounging around the house; it feels like a bit too much fabric for me to wear in place of a regular bra or skimpier bralette. But, if you’re looking for good coverage and supreme comfort, this is it. The Brief checks off all the boxes: comfy fabric, simple silhouette, no rolling or falling down.
The Thong To End It All
I will say a lot of brands can pull off a good bikini or brief, but in my opinion the true litmus test of a great intimates brand is the thong. Does it slide down? Does it roll up? Does it feel uncomfortable in between the cheeks? If the answer to any of these questions is a yes, I’m out.
The star of the show, the crème de la crème, the pièce de résistance, was the thong. I mean it when I say this is not only the best item EBY has to offer, but one of the best thongs period.

The high-waisted fit silky smooth fabric is a blend of nylon and spandex, with a 100% cotton lining. When I slipped it on, I knew this was a pair of underwear that would get a lot of wear in the future. The thong lays flat — and with the seamless construction, you’re panty-line-free no matter what you wear on top.
No matter how comfy a pair of underwear is, there’s nothing worse than underwear that rides up, slips down, or rolls up. EBY has a smart fix that I’ve never seen before. A no-slip nylon grip lines both sides of every pair of EBY women’s underwear, making for an extra-comfy layer that stays put and fits just right. I barely even feel like they’re there, which is exactly what I’m looking for.

Sooo...How Do I Buy It?
EBY has a few options that make buying new intimates a breeze. Choose from a membership subscription box or go a la carte. The EBY membership has two tiers: 3 pairs shipped every 3 months ($39) or 5 pairs shipped every 6 months ($65). Members also get other perks like special pricing, free shipping, and early access to new product launches. I never really saw the need for an underwear subscription, but I’ll now be the first to say you should be changing up your underwear selection. If it looks ratty, it’s probably time for a refresh. Plus, you can easily skip a month of undies if you feel you’re fully stocked.
If you’re not a member, underwear goes for $15 a pair, bralettes cost $45, and tanks are $48. You can certainly find cheaper options out there, but for the quality these prices feel very fair.
Bringing everything full circle: I am not getting rid of my Hanky Panky (I don’t think I ever will), but EBY did give my tried-and-true a run for its money. Now, there will be room for both of these brands in my underwear drawer.
