Having spent most of my life in Southern California, I labored for years under the misconception that I didn't need a pair of slippers. That's because I needed to broaden my definition, to think beyond cold weather, furry UGG supremacy (which, to be clear, had a chokehold on SoCal as well) and embrace the world of slides, slip-ons and house shoes alike.
That's not to say I don't love a good shearling moment – and with the winter months oncoming, they'll be well-represented on this list as well. But we're working with a broad enough umbrella term that there's plenty in this edit even for the slipper skeptics. Take it from a former non-believer: life is better when you slip into something cozy.

From the moment I first slipped on a pair of Lusso Cloud Pellis ($135), it was game over. What should have remained a house shoe suddenly became a go-to for all sorts of errands – they're just so damn comfortable, I'm hard-pressed to ever take them off. When my feet are sandwiched between that triple-layer memory foam sole and the waffle knit top, there's nowhere else they'd rather be. The brand’s slogan is "360° Comfort," and I'm here to say it delivers.

Italian brand Nomasei gives editorial excellence while sporting a serious commitment to sustainability. These Hotel de la Plage Mules ($162) are made from upcycled organic waste like corn, beet and sugarcane, and you wouldn't know it for a second: they look right at home on the shores of Amalfi. Come for the eye-catching, criss-cross design and stay for that plush foam sole. This is resortwear done right.

Though OluKai's Hawaiian origins may seem a more natural fit for its very successful line of sandals, the slippers are our sleeper fave from across the brand’s collection. Available in all kinds of silhouettes – from the Premium Leather Mule Slippers ($120) to the very kitschy Fuzzy Slipper Sandals ($120) – there are options with varying warmth and breathability depending on your climate. For cabin trips, you'll find me clad in a pair of the Moloas ($130), with their gorgeous stitched leather and shearling interior.

If you've ever wrapped yourself in one of Parachute's bathrobes, you know why we're hyped for the tie-in slippers ($39.) Made from the same luxe Turkish cotton, these babies take bathtime over the top, while the shearling wool clogs ($99) beg for a night in by the fireplace. Parachute’s been a long-time favorite of ours when it comes to home decor – now see how the brand brings that same knack into loungewear.

Kyrgies takes its name from the valleys of Krygyzstan, where these cult-favorite slippers are handcrafted. The brand’s namesake shoe ($89) has a distinctively low back, leaving your heel exposed, but I'm really vibing with the fully-covered Tengries Walkabouts (also $89) lately. Taking the indoor comforts of the house shoe into an outdoor-friendly walking model, they're durable, comfortable, and just as easy to slip in and out of.
