Anyone But You, the rom-com starring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell, is a modern spin on Shakespeare’s play Much Ado About Nothing. It’s a fun date night movie that keeps the tone light, has an absolutely gorgeous cast, and at an hour and 45-minute run time, feels like a nice, brief escape from real life. Added bonus: you’ll likely be singing along to Natasha Bedingfield’s throwback-now-viral track “Unwritten” by the time the end credits roll. And while it might not win any awards or stand the test of time like Shakespeare’s original, there’s much ado to be had about the wardrobe for this movie.

The Blue Bridesmaid Dress
Let’s start with maybe the most iconic piece from the movie: Sweeney’s silky blue bridesmaid dress that was featured in most of the pre-release promos. The defining features are the curve-hugging silk fabric and the cowl neck front, so if you’re headed to a wedding and want to lean into this look, consider the Bec + Bridge Moon Dance Cowl dress ($100) or the La Lune Lace Back Maxi dress from Shona Joy ($360.) Both are great dupes that, with a bit of tailoring, can be made to fit like a glove (just like hers.)
The Bubblegum Pink Dress
The bubblegum pink chiffon dress is another standout piece from the movie, and while it was difficult to find a dress with a spot-on match for the crisscrossed bodice, deep V front, and full maxi length skirt, a few top contenders that’ll help you strike a similar note are the Beloved Gown by Zhivago ($450) or for a more high-end option, the Reem Acra Pleated Crystal V-Neck Gown ($1,078). With a nice pair of heels and a no-frills blowout, you’ll be all set for your next formal event.
The Sexy Brown Dress
The rust brown maxi dress with gold hardware Sweeney wears is a great option for a day dress on vacation or a summer night out, and we’ve found a quite similar option in the Normani midi dress from Runway the Label ($85). Much like the one Sweeney wears in the movie, you may feel more comfortable taped into the bodice of this bra-free dress, but all you need to be camera-ready is a pair of gold hoop earrings and comfortable heeled sandals.

The White Linen Suit
Glen Powell’s wedding ‘fit in the movie is a well-tailored cream (ecru?) linen suit with a white button-down shirt underneath. For under $500, guys can spin up a similar outfit by pairing the Ludlow Slim-fit unstructured suit jacket in Irish cotton-linen blend by J. Crew ($248) and the matching slim-fit pants ($168). Skip the pocket square, get some tan dress shoes, and you’re all set.
The Cream Short Sleeve Sweater
A good short-sleeved sweater shirt is an easy way to work around the traditional polo for a more elevated style in warmer months, and Anyone But You’s costume designer knew that audiences would be extremely into that idea. Take a page from her book with the more budget-friendly stitch three-button sweater polo ($60) from Abercrombie, or level up with the ribbed silk open-collar sweater from Hugo BOSS ($318). Be sure to opt for a slim fit to keep this piece from looking oversized and sloppy.

The Teeny Floral Bikini
I’m going to address the elephant in the room here and say that Sydney Sweeney is doing wonders for this white floral swimsuit, and the rest of us mere mortals will just not look quite the same. And that’s okay! Montce Swim’s Fruity Floral Dainty Bikini Top ($134) and Lulu bikini bottom ($94) are a great match for anyone looking for a similarly feminine print with a supportive top and cheeky bottom.
The High-Cut Maroon Swim Trunks
The shorter-inseam swim trunks and shorts are officially back in, and Glen Powell shows off a maroon pair in the movie. Is this scene really more about what he’s NOT wearing? Maybe. But if you’re looking for a similar pair to wear to the pool or beach this summer, Polonio’s burgundy crinkle swim trunks ($100) are an easy option to reach for.

The Classic Jeans and White Top
TikTok is going nuts over the jeans and white top look Sweeney wears in the opening scene of the movie, and the good news is you can recreate this look easily.
