I Tried The Top 3 Clothing Rental Brands & Found One Clear Winner

I love the concept of more mindful consumption – especially when it comes to my wardrobe. As I’ve gotten older, I have so enjoyed donating the cheaper, trendier pieces I used to indulge in and streamlining my closet with really solid basics. But, who doesn’t love having something new and fresh to mix things up for meetings, brunches, and the like? I figured a clothing rental subscription could potentially strike the ideal balance of sustainability-meets-novelty so, ever the overachiever, I tried the internet’s three favorite clothing rental companies. Long story short, I stuck with Armoire – here’s why.

No items found.

Variety

Armoire offers a wide range of styles from casual to formal wear from designer labels like Rag & Bone, Equipment, White + Warren, and Joie. I’ve been able to shop everything from day-to-day options to more work-centered pieces – and even compliment-worthy outfits for special occasions. The other services, on the other hand, seemed to have less range – one is better specifically for special occasions, and the other didn’t have the same depth as Armoire (maybe one or two pieces per brand versus the copious options from Armoire).

Quality

Every piece I’ve ever received from Armoire has come in amazing condition. While I know I’m wearing clothes that someone has worn before me (and theoretically love that!), I prefer for my clothes to look, feel and smell new. Thankfully Armoire delivers here. The other brands…not so much.

User Experience

I’ve come to learn that user experience is a crucial aspect of any rental service. Armoire just gets it: Their platform offers a personalized and intuitive interface that lets you  refine your choices with filters like category, weather, and occasion. It’s so easy to find exactly what you’re looking for (or what you didn’t even know you were looking for). In comparison, other sites I’ve used look gorgeous, but aren’t as simple to navigate. They definitely take a bit more time to browse which could be a pro if you’re a big online shopper, but I prefer having the service narrow my options down for me.

Value

Armoire’s pricing structure includes options for unlimited items per month, as well as plans with a set number of items. The lowest plan begins at $89 for your first month (you’ll get 4 items each month on this plan) and the unlimited plan is $139 for your first month. With Armoire's unlimited plan, you have the freedom to swap out items as often as you like, giving you access to a wide variety of clothes over the course of the month. Of the three, it seems that Armoire is the only brand to offer the unlimited plan, which definitely gets you the most bang for your buck (it can net out to as low as $10/item!). It’s a huge pro – 10/10 recommend.

Use code 1TQEUNLIMITED for 44% off your first month of the unlimited plan or 1TQE7 for 25% off your first month of the 7 item plan.
