I recently got dumped after being in a relationship for 3 years. Some breakups are quick and painless. This one truly felt like the end of the world.
Then, Jacob Elordi and Kaia Gerber's year-long relationship came to an end. Followed by Bachelorette’s Tayshia Adams and Zac Clark announcing they’ve decided to “take a break.” And to round it all off, Hollywood sweethearts Shawn Mendes and Camilla Cabello went their separate ways, too. There must be something in the water.
Luckily, the internet is a great place to find items that’ll brighten your mood (even in the darkest of times). Meet the items helping me get back on track…
Dieux Forever Eye Masks, $25
While I’ve appreciated co-workers and friends asking how I’m “holding up” on Zoom calls and FaceTimes, I figured my puffy eyes could use a lasting fix. That’s where these eye masks come in. The Forever Eye Mask from Dieux includes two reusable patches that hold serums, gels, and creams close to your skin for maximum absorption. Puffiness be gone!
ESPELMA’s Fig Tree Candle, $135
After a breakup, I always find nights to be the hardest. But, I’ve found the most incredible candle to brighten my mood: ESPELMA is a beautiful brand founded by sisters from Barcelona. My absolute favorite? The Fig Tree candle. This gem combines pear stem and Mediterranean fig notes to create a woody scent with a fruity undertone, making me all feel warm and cozy inside.
Donni Duo Sweater Cardi, $159
Eventually, the sweats have to go. I replaced mine with the Duo Sweater Cardi from Donni. Putting on real clothes has made me feel slightly human again. (Like…I could actually go out and face the world?) This sweater is equal parts snuggly and stylish.
Unbound Babes Ollie Vibrator, $76
Between finding a new boyfriend and finding a reliable vibrator, I opted for instant gratification. I went with a classic, the Ollie from Unbound Babes. It’s smooth, reliable and a great option for beginners. Here’s a perk: being single means you get to explore and find exactly what you like.
Bearaby Cotton Napper, $199
If physical touch is one of your love languages (it’s mine!), then by now, you’re probably missing all those hugs. I’ve got something close – Bearaby’s napper feels like a giant hug. And for a second, wrapped in all the warmth, I don’t feel so lonely anymore. This beautiful blanket comes in three different weights: 15, 20, and 25 pounds, and has many color options. The combination of feeling safe, protected and calm is pretty unbeatable.
Steep and Mellow Dream Chamomile Tea, $24
This is the tea I dream about. The Dream Chamomile Tea from Steep and Mellow contains reishi mushroom, ashwagandha root, and valerian root. It’s almost ritualistic for me now. Every night, I pour myself a cup, crawl into bed, journal and drift off into a deep and restful sleep. Like I’ve said, nights are always hardest but this makes them something I can look forward to.
LDMA High Sculpt Thong, $26
Now that I’m riding solo, putting myself first is the default. I’ve invested in a fantastic pair of high-performance underwear that, frankly, makes me feel unbeatable. It’s crazy what a pair of functional, comfortable (and still beautiful of course!) underwear can do for you. All those uncomfortable, tight, lacy pieces are going in a box straight to the back of the closet for a long, long time.
Breakups suck: I get it. But at the end of the day, we grow through what we go through. I’ve found a lot of comfort in rediscovering myself in this journey. And, I’ve found incredible brands and products that have brought me joy along the way. I hope you love them as much as I do!
