With two kids and two dogs–the latter of which occasionally pee on my coveted rugs–I have gone through quite a few in my day (RIP to those I’ve lost). For a good year, I was rugless, accepting the cold, unwelcoming wood as my sad reality. While I settled with Ruggable in our kitchen areas, I yearned for something more substantial and luxurious for my dining and family rooms–rugs that were soft, comforting, and warm for my kids to play on – and rugs that would visually help tie the rooms together.
I decided to be rugless no more and to take my chances with the dogs (my husband thought I was crazy, but I am convinced I’m just brave). I wasn’t ready to splurge a good $4,000 like I had before, but I was looking for something that checked all the boxes of my modern mom needs. After an hour of searching Google (keywords: “durable, affordable, chic rugs”), I discovered Sundays, which was exactly what I was looking for: a company that offered affordable, meticulously crafted rugs.
Rooted in ethical craftsmanship and sustainability, the brand's commitment to responsible practices is highlighted by its GoodWeave Standard certification, ensuring fair labor practices and a socially responsible approach to rug-making. The essence of Sundays lies in their choice of natural materials, including wool, cotton, and jute. Beyond the luxurious comfort and durability, these materials signify a deep-seated commitment to environmentally conscious living and blend well into my home, which has a lot of natural textures and materials.
I purchased two stunning rugs from Sundays, one for my dining room area and the other for my family room. The Sundays delivery team offered white glove delivery in my dining room and unrolled the Checkers Rug x Scott Sueme collaboration. This rug is a testament to Sundays’ dedication to artistic expression and was a fun and easy way to elevate the entire room with its geometric and vibrant design. A collaboration with renowned artist Scott Sueme, this 8x10 masterpiece in teal marries traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design.
I was excited to find a larger rug I loved for our family room in the Amalfi Rug. Inspired by the Mediterranean coastline, the Amalfi Rug pulled our neutral living room together with a touch of funk. Handwoven from a blend of wool and cotton that is soft yet durable, the warm tones and texture provide a neutral yet elevated backdrop. Because it was low-ply, I was optimistic that cleaning would be easy should the dogs have an accident.
Sundays rugs spark joy in the everyday and invite you to step into a world where style, sustainability, and artistic collaboration converge. It’s safe to say that six months later, my dogs have not touched the Sundays’ Rugs (aside from sleeping on them!). Whatever Voodoo Sundays is doing on them (maybe the dogs just enjoy them as much as I do), I’m grateful to wake up to them every morning. From the ethical sourcing of materials to the meticulous artistry embedded in every design, Sundays is an invitation to embrace a lifestyle where every choice is made with intention.
With a narrative that stretches beyond mere aesthetics, the brand has etched their place in the world of interior design, inviting you to walk a path where luxury is not just seen but felt and experienced, especially in exclusive collaborations like the Checkers Rug x Scott Sueme masterpiece.
