It’s no secret that sleep is an art form for newborns. There are hundreds of books, schools of thought, and beliefs on how best to help your baby sleep. And while all of that is well and good, sometimes, it comes down to having the right tools in your toolbelt – literally. So from one (not-as-tired-as-I-used-to-be) parent to another, allow us to share some of our best tools for success. These ones have been tried and tested by our babes, passing their tests – and ours. This Sleep Week, invest in your sleep and baby’s sleep, and treat your fam to these dreamy products.
Prior to my son’s arrival, I looked hard at the luxury bassinets on the market, but just couldn’t justify the $1k+ price tag. After finding the gorgeous Evi from Little Partners, I was eager to see if it was worth the upgrade from our stationary bedside bassinet. The second night we had it, we were able to put our son down at 7p – which we’d never successfully done – for the night. He loves the slight swivel and the music. We love the safety features, the look, and the ease of use.

With 12 soothing sounds that help teach calming breaths, a night light feature, and more, there’s nothing not to love about this device. It’ll leave you wanting one for your room, too!

I love holding our son, but sometimes, I need to put him down to just get stuff done or tend to our toddler. Like many babies, sometimes he hates being put down, so I started looking for solutions. Homedics offers a wonderfully-crafted, 3-in-1 calming cushion that can give you some precious hands-free time. With a breathable design, it makes soothing sounds, calming vibrations, and even a heartbeat to “trick” baby into thinking you’re holding them. While not technically approved for sleep, we often use it “pre-nap” to get him calm and ready to sleep.

Parents know the pain of buying size after size of clothes and PJs every few months – and MORI has heard our cries! Heck, I even want one for myself. MORI’s Head of Product, Amie Flynn, told us in her own words why this sleep sack is so special: “It is truly a game-changer for the whole family and means your little one has an undisturbed and safe night sleep. Its clever features is also what makes it stand out with a two-way zip to make night time changes easier and poppers which means it can be used for up to 2 years. The sleep sack is also designed with our signature fabric of organic cotton and bamboo from viscose making it incredibly soft and a real essential for your baby’s bedtime.”

I jumped off the oils train a few years ago, but this brand is making me reconsider that choice. Oilogic’s sleep solutions gently aid your baby in sleep. With calming cream, a fun bubble wash, a linen mist, and a chest rub, you’ll all be thankful for this gift of sleep. With clean ingredients that actually work, this is a brand I’m regularly buying for others and recommending to new moms.

If you hate “character” PJs as much as I do, you’re going to LOVE Primary! With PJs in “every color for every kid, with no labels and no slogans,” Primary’s super-soft and reasonably-priced jammies are a win for everyone in the fam. We’ll keep shopping the brand again and again for these reasons – and because my kids love them, too!

As I type this, our son is asleep in his Dreamland weighted sleep sack. The slight weight gives him the sense of security, which he loves. I love the way it washes so easily and how great he sleeps in it! We always pack this when traveling to new places for extra comfort for him. We also religiously use the brand’s sound machine, so pick one of those up while you’re there!

My oldest loved his Chicco pacifiers, so when I learned the brand made a new, textured pacifier, I had to try it. Our newborn always spits his pacifiers out – but this one has him certainly keeping it in his mouth for longer. The pacifier also positions the “baby’s tongue forward to… support physiological breathing… which improves quality of sleep and irritability.” He’s actually got one in right now as he sleeps, allowing me the hands to share this good news with you all.

Our poor son is on the go a lot, so having the right tools to have him sleep on the go is critical. The Sleep Everywhere Sack is a great one to have if you’re regularly transitioning from the crib to the carseat, as the sack unzips easily so baby can stay in it while being buckled. The zipper even goes all the way around, so diaper changes don’t require you to remove it, either.

A cute crib sheet can make or break a nursery – and your baby’s sleep. Little Unicorn’s adorable, muslin crib sheets a win-win… cute for you and comfy for baby. I love the farm animal print, but there is truly a print for every nursery style on their site.

Every new parent knows there’s nothing worse than a midnight blow-out. Waking your baby to change their diaper is just brutal on everyone. Luckily, Gunamüna thought of this with their sweet convertible pajamas. With a specially-designed diaper zipper, baby can stay comfy cozy all while you get the job done. On top of that, you can fold the hand mittens over to prevent scratching and add warmth to baby with sizes up to 9 months, which most other brands discontinue far earlier in sizing. It’s so soft and both my son and I love these!
