Starting a business can be hard. Starting a successful business can be really hard. Being a woman trying to start a successful business while juggling the responsibilities of family, career, and self? Seemingly damn near impossible.
This Mother's Day, we had the privilege of connecting with the powerful female founders, creators, and mothers who have managed to occupy our social feeds and browser tabs while being there for their families. We asked these amazing women what they'd want for themselves this year, and we noticed that—no matter what their respective businesses were—each woman hoped for items that would allow them to show up for themselves so they could continue to show up as their best selves for their employees, their customers, and most importantly, their families.
While "having it all" is certainly not a finite process in any way, these women have shown us where there's a will, there's a way...forward.

“Motherhood has taught me to lean into the chaos, trust my gut and not take things too seriously. My kids are my biggest teachers and I am so grateful to be their mom!”
Danielle Nadick Levy, Co-Founder + CEO of Facile
“So hard to put into words what being a mom feels like to me! I honestly have so many ‘pinch me’ moments where I can't believe just how lucky I am.
My kids bring me more joy and love than I ever thought possible—it's so, so hard, but I had this very pivotal moment when Grey was about a year old, before Shain was born, where I realized that the ‘hard’ moments are a gift.
I would try to put myself into my older self's shoes, and realized just how much these years mean to me—they’re so wonderful, challenging, and impactful.
I wish for more balanced days where I feel like I'm able to give quality time to my kids all the while working, taking care of myself, investing in my relationships with my husband and friends—it's a difficult task, but trying to stay present and have grace with myself in taking it one day at a time.”

“The journey of being a mom (of 3) has been about embracing chaos, having a sense of purpose, and discovering my superpower strength. For your kids, you're capable of so much more than you'll ever imagine.”

“For me, motherhood has been a driving force in my life. I became a mother at the age of 24, and motherhood has defined a huge part of who I am. Motherhood helped heal me and inspire my business. And now I get to share my work life with my daughter, and see her in the world.”

“Being a mama is the wildest, most beautiful journey I have ever been on. I am so honored to be Ellie (7) and Lennon's (3.5) mama.
They are my biggest teachers and remind me every day how beautiful this life is. From filling my heart with love and laughter to bringing me back to the present moment to reminding me to be my most authentic self to slowing down, to being a full-time improv artist to teaching me lessons I didn't even know existed... they (and their dad ) are the great loves and teachers of my life.”
Lauren Berlingeri, Co-Founder + CEO of HigherDOSE
“Being a twin mom has been the most spiritually expanding journey I've ever embarked on. It's awe-inspiring how moms juggle so much and give endlessly, making it the best unpaid job in the world.”
I can’t wait to be someone who applies body oil when she gets out of the shower. This one’s clinically proven to instantly improve skin elasticity and deliver deep moisturization – and I, for one, would prefer it over two spicy margs that would cost the same amount.

“Being a mom is an incredible gift. Yes, it’s 2 a.m. wake-ups, Crayon on the walls, and meltdowns in grocery stores, but it’s also belly laughs and a heart so full it could burst. It’s a big responsibility teaching my boys to be the best version of themselves in a complicated world, but we have a lot of fun. We love to ski together, see the world and, of course, I always have purse snacks.”
Michele Thomas, + Leland Drummond, Co-Founders of LDMA
Michele: “There's truly nothing more fulfilling than the role of being a mom, even though it's undoubtedly the toughest job out there. After a long, bustling day, there's a special magic in coming home to your kids. They bring an energy and joy to my life that keeps me on my toes, and I cherish every moment of fun and laughter we share together.”
Leland: “Being a Mom is the best job in the world and it is also one that is all encompassing-- a job with no days off! I am so grateful everyday to be the mom of two healthy, energetic boys, but I also definitely get worn out from time to time, especially when I'm balancing work and parenting and trying to show up with 100% of myself for both at all times. I tend to think self-care is a form of selflessness, not selfishness because by showing up for yourself, you are giving yourself the energy to show up for others. Any hacks and tools that can help me do that are always on my list.”
Anouck Gotlib, CEO of Belgian Boys
“Balancing being a CEO and mom to my two energetic and amazing boys (4 and 6) can be challenging at times. I hope for a world where work and family life mesh together smoothly. I wish for workplaces that understand the needs of parents, offering flexibility and support and allowing us to excel in our careers while also cherishing moments with our kids.”

Editor Zoë loves Seed’s Daily Synbiotic, citing that it helped the tone and quality of her skin. That’s right, folks, probiotics aren’t just for feeling good – they can help you look good, too. At $49.99/month, it isn’t a cheap investment, but that’s why we’re crowning it the best premium probiotic.

“Being a mom is truly an incredible thing, I get the chance to experience life for the first time all over again through the eyes of my children. There’s something so refreshing about the views of children before they have been influenced by reality or past experiences. My children are my greatest motivators and my favourite part of the day is time with them.”

“I was an entrepreneur before I was a mom, and my entrepreneurial spirit has been a genial guide to motherhood as there is a similar spirit. Growing a business and raising a son have much in common. Both are passion-filled, and one must embrace adventure, daily details, learning curves, growth spurts, and endless surprises. Yet, no endeavor prepared me for the boundlessly beautiful, soul-shifting love I have for my son and the joy of witnessing him grow into an amazing young man.”

“Motherhood is a sacred journey. My children are my greatest teachers. Nothing compares to being a mother. I hold many titles, but my absolute number one role is Mommy. There is no greater responsibility. My blessings bloom with every smile.”

“Motherhood is hands down the best thing that I have ever experienced. It is simultaneously the hardest and most beautiful job I will ever have. My son has taught me so much—he is truly an old soul, and we have the best time in the world together. I am so excited to bring my daughter into the world this summer and continue to expand our family. I am a big believer that children are our greatest teachers. I love everything that I learn from my little ones and then some! Becoming a mom has also helped me instill some much needed balance in my life (workaholic forever, lol) and I am so grateful for that! Family is what matters most.”

“I’m a better founder because I am a mother, and a better mother because I am a founder. Both require master prioritization skills and the ability to ask for help. Both demand a lot of time and energy. The two together remind me that my identity is not wrapped solely in being one or the other. I also love that I can laugh my way through some difficult moments because our girls bring such positive energy into my life. They don’t care how a launch went or if we closed an investment—they live in the now and in the present, which can be so refreshing when building a growing business that is continually pushing towards the future.”
Katie Echevarria Rosen Kitchens, Co-Founder and Editor-in-Chief of FabFitFun
“Motherhood has been the scariest, most joyful, strangest, fun, terrifying, funny, soul-changing experience of my life. What I will say is that being a mom has made me a better leader. I am much more focused on productivity and performance, versus how long someone spends in an office. I have always tried to lead with empathy, but that has only been more important to me after having kids. Whether it’s my work family or my home family, I have found that collaboration and kindness go incredibly far—especially during stressful or challenging times. I was lucky to have one of the world’s best moms who was always my number one cheerleader. She made me believe that I could do anything that I aspired to do. And there is a part of me that uses that same philosophy at FabFitFun. Last but certainly not least, I would say motherhood requires constantly navigating countless unexpected challenges. This takes a tremendous amount of resilience that I also try to bring to FabFitFun on the daily. I'm better equipped to handle setbacks, adapt to changes, and lead my team with a sense of optimism and determination. And more so than anything, I feel really lucky. At 8 and 11, my daughters are already so independent, loving, smart, and generous. Of course, I don’t want them to be too independent—just independent enough to know that they can independently come to me for help. Yeah, I’ll take that.”
