Pregnancy brings on many changes (emphasis on the many). Whether they be physical, mental, emotional or all of the above – it’s a beautiful and wild ride. While most people know the typical “do’s and don'ts'' of pregnancy, navigating the skincare and beauty world can be confusing. Many ingredients in skincare products are not considered safe (think retinols, chemicals, essential oils), which, for many of us, means that our typical routines have to be modified.
With that said, there are more pregnancy-safe products on the market than ever. With the push for “clean beauty,” many brands have already created products that are paraben, sulfate and chemical-free (and the list goes on) which leaves room for many pregnancy-friendly options. Since no one wants to inspect ingredient labels to figure out what Zinc Oxide actually is, I’ve done the research for you and gathered up a few of my favorite beauty brands that I genuinely love, trust and use.
Summer Fridays has always been a favorite of mine, so I am thrilled that many of their products are pregnancy-safe. Your skin can go through a lot of changes (hello, hormones), so whether you’re experiencing redness, dryness, or breakouts, Summer Fridays has an option for you. I love the Dream Oasis Deep Hydration Face Serum ($44) which contains a healthy dose of Hyaluronic Acid that hydrates and plumps the skin. It’s great for sensitive skin during pregnancy and pairs perfectly with the Cloud Dew Gel Cream Moisturizer ($45). But the real standout product while you’re pregnant is the Babymoon Belly Balm ($29). It’s highly concentrated with natural oils, and I love that it’s a safe option for those with sensitive skin (and those sensitive to smells)!

Evereden may be one of the most pregnancy-friendly brands out there. Whether you’re pregnant, postpartum or in need of baby-friendly skincare, Evereden has something for everyone. Each product is dermatologist-tested and free of any harmful chemicals. I am a big fan of the Mama Must-Have Duo ($79), which consists of the Golden Belly Serum ($39) and Nourishing Stretch Mark Cream ($49). The Golden Belly Serum has a light scent of rose and pear, which is great for those who are sensitive to strong fragrances. But what I love the most is its non-greasy formula – I’ve found many belly serums to be quite heavy, and Evereden’s is the ideal consistency. For the most effective results, use the Nourishing Stretch Mark Cream afterwards. Its heavy dose of hydration is helpful for itchy and stretching skin. I love layering it on my belly, chest and legs both morning and evening.

If a Board-Certified Dermatologist creates a skincare line and uses it while she’s pregnant, you know it has to be good. Dr. Shereene Idriss created the Major Fade Solution System ($165) after experiencing melasma during her pregnancy, an extremely common symptom that causes discoloration and darkening of the skin. In an effort to simplify her routine and still deliver results, the system consists of just three products. Even if you’re not experiencing melasma – and even if you’re not pregnant – the products are worth the price point. The Major Fade Solution System is simple and effective, all while containing high-quality ingredients and a luxurious feel. If you’re feeling a bit puffy or swollen, I highly recommend The Depuffer ($38) – it’s relaxing and will make you look more awake in minutes.

C & the Moon products were created by Carson Meyer, a birth doula, so it’s no surprise that expecting mothers were top of mind when formulating the products. Completely organic, non-toxic and free of heavy metals, the C & the Moon line is 100% safe for pregnancy. Keeping the skin hydrated is key while growing a baby, as it helps maintain elasticity. The Malibu Made Glow Oil ($93) is a fantastic option for your growing belly, and can be massaged on the breasts to increase milk production and lymphatic flow. Even better? It doubles as a hair oil, which makes it the perfect time-saving product. If you’re the type that loves a good bath scrub, I highly recommend the Malibu Made Body Scrub ($42) – it offers a little bit of a luxury at home (and you can’t beat the smell)!

Of course, many makeup products also contain harmful ingredients for pregnancy, so ILIA has become my go-to makeup brand. They use carefully selected ingredients with a focus on “skin-centric” beauty, which means that the products are beneficial for the skin while still acting as makeup. The Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40 ($48) is a favorite – it’s won about a dozen awards for good reason. It offers just the right amount of light coverage (especially during the warmer months) and I love that it contains mineral sunscreen, making it completely pregnancy-safe. If you’re looking for a great product to give you that radiant sun-kissed glow, look no further than the Liquid Light Serum Highlighter ($42). It melts into the skin and will give you a nice, dewy shine any time of the year.

Sunscreen can be a tricky thing to navigate when you’re pregnant. You want to stick with a Zinc-based mineral sunscreen, but many can be quite chalky and leave a white residue. Thankfully, Daybird’s holy grail Tinted Skincare ($39.50) is the perfect 4-in-1 product that offers a serum, moisturizer, foundation and SPF 50 sunscreen. Need I say more? It comes in four different shades and is dermatologist tested and approved. It’s a great option for those who are on-the-go and/or can’t be bothered by a 10-step skincare routine – aka, it’s the pregnancy-friendly skincare solution you need.

Iris&Romeo is another fantastic option for makeup products that keep your skin’s health at the forefront. With an extensive list of banned ingredients, the products are perfect for prenatal skincare. I love their “less is more” approach: multi-use beauty products are always a win for me. The Best Skin Days SPF 30 ($48) is deemed the “skincare-meets-makeup game changer” and I couldn't agree more. It’s highly moisturizing while providing buildable coverage that lasts (plus you can't beat a product that also contains SPF)! Speaking of SPF, if you want even more sun protection, the Weekend Skin SPF 50 + Vitamin C + Glow is the product for you. Containing SPF and Vitamin C, it’s protective and brightening, which is great for hyperpigmentation and wrinkles.

Ogee is the high-end organic skincare line that passes the “pregnancy-safe” test without fail. If you’re looking to treat yourself with a more luxurious skincare experience, I wholeheartedly suggest Ogee. The Velvet Botanical Moisturizer ($86) is a favorite of mine – if you can get your hands on it, it’s well worth the price. Infused with Ogee’s signature Jojoba Oil and containing Hyaluronic Acid, it really does feel like velvet on the skin but also protects against irritants and pollutants. You can’t go wrong with the Jojoba Glow Face Oil ($88) either. No matter what skin changes you’re experiencing, this oil staves off signs of aging while restoring a heavy dose of moisture.

Covey is a brand that you’ll be grateful that you can use while pregnant. The entire line is gentle on the skin, free of harsh chemicals, and totally fragrance-free. I am a big fan of the Sleep Tight Bakuchiol Serum ($69), which is a great alternative to retinoids that are off the table while pregnant. It’s been a staple in my nighttime routine – I love that it’s more gentle and safe for sensitive skin. I recommend purchasing one of Covey’s step-by-step routines, such as the Level Up Routine ($185), which consists of all of the skincare essentials. Covey also recently introduced their Sun & Done Moisturizing SPF 50 Sunscreen ($34), which is another fantastic mineral sunscreen that’s safe to use throughout your pregnancy. It doubles as a hydrator and can be worn with or without moisturizer.

Of course, it’s always best to discuss with your doctor if you have any skincare-related questions or concerns. Everyone’s pregnancy looks different, but it’s reassuring to know that so many pregnancy-safe brands exist today. Give your body some love with any of these products during a time that it may need it the most!
