From Just One Pup To A Healthy, Thriving Pack

PetLabCo.’s beginning can be traced to one special pooch in particular: founder Chris Masanto’s dog, Krystal. His pooch began to experience arthritic pain and struggled to walk during the last four years of her life. And while she lived to the ripe old age of 18, he wished he could have done more to supplement and support her. So with her memory in mind, he went on to cofound PetLabCo. with Damian Grabarczyk in 2018 — and to help ensure other dogs could live their healthiest lives.

In the five years since its inception, the brand has now introduced 30 products, ranging from supplements to chews, balms, wipes, and bites. And these aren’t just any common canine confections. When it came to giving PetLabCo.’s products a try, I let the needs of my senior pup dictate the selections. While she is still quite spritely for her age, jumping on the bed regularly and enjoying a long walk, I have noticed it takes her a bit longer to get up in the morning or after a long nap. Normally a voracious eater (like "get your fingers away because she will snap them" type eater), there has also been a slight decline in appetite and a few more upset tummies. Plus, her teeth and breath could certainly… use some freshening. So with that in mind, I was ready to let her be the test terrier for a few supplements aimed at improving mobility, digestion, and dental health.

I figured if I take a probiotic to keep my belly functioning properly, my pup should too (especially since she occasionally eats a mystery item off the street). So I started things off with the Probiotic Chews ($37.44). These soft, pork-flavored bites are aimed at optimizing digestion and supporting immune function, with eight probiotic strains to balance good bacteria in the gut. They also have some common human-grade ingredients you might not expect: agave, honey, and pumpkin. In addition, these chews also claim to have benefits beyond the belly, assisting with  seasonal allergies, paw licking, and itching.

As soon as I popped one of these probiotic chews in her face, my dog was definitely on board. She gobbled them down on the daily, and in the month since I’ve been administering them, we’ve had zero digestive issues and a thriving appetite. And true to their claims, her occasional paw licking has also substantially subsided.

Helping Your Pup Continue To Play Fetch For Years To Come

Joint stiffness is another issue that has begun to take hold — and hold back — my dog, as something almost every senior dog has to face in their lifetime. To combat the toll of time and aging, I opted for a combo of the Mobility Pro Oil ($27.90) and Joint Care Chews ($38.69). Both these products are packed with scientifically-formulated ingredients: lipped mussels, curcugen, anchovy oil, and glucosamine in the joint chews, and CurCos-Zn, a “patent-pending antioxidant fusion” of turmeric and zinc in the oil. All that might sound super impressive, but the proof would be in my pup’s response. After a joint chew daily, and the mobility oil in her food morning and evening, I have indeed noticed a bit of a spring in her step. Only time will tell if her joints stay strong, but I plan to continue using both of these products for the foreseeable future.
