This Spray Claims To Neutralize 98% Of Cat Allergens — But Does It Work? I Tried It

I’m the type of cat owner that doesn’t mind if their cat joins them on the couch for movie night. I’ve also woken up to find my cat taking over a corner of the bed. And while these snuggles and sweet moments are priceless to me, friends and family that are allergic to cats feel differently.

Although I do my best to pass the lint roller over my furniture and make sure to turn on my air purifier as often as I can, it’s not always a quick solution to my guests’ watery eyes and itchy noses, especially when allergens spread faster than I can deal with.

To ease my guests’ symptoms and encourage them to RSVP to my next dinner party, I decided to test out Pacagen’s Cat Allergen Neutralizing Spray Starter Pack, which is designed to eliminate the protein present in cat’s saliva that induces allergy symptoms.

What To Do If A Guest Is Allergic To Cats?

Pacagen’s Cat Allergen Neutralizing Spray

A Cat Allergen Neutralizing Spray can be beneficial for treating furniture that feline friends have turned into their favorite spots. You can spray this non-toxic formula on your furniture, and it may help reduce cat allergy symptoms. Pacagen’s formula is backed by veterinarians and has been proven to neutralize up to 98% of allergens throughout your home.

But why is treating furniture and common areas important when reducing guest’s cat allergy symptoms?

As our cats groom themselves on their favorite side of the sofa, kitchen chair, bed or ottoman, they might leave behind saliva and saliva-covered dander. This saliva contains a protein known as Fel d 1 and is what induces allergy symptoms like sneezing, watery eyes and wheezing in those who then sit or spend time in those same areas.

Your furry feline also coats itself in saliva when licking and grooming itself, so it will also transfer the protein when it is picked up or carried. When cats shed their fur, this protein will also end up all over your home and airways, making it very difficult to avoid.

Since there are so many different ways for this allergy-inducing protein to end up all over your home, I looked for a solution that targets most surface areas in my home without leaving behind a strong scent or residue.

Introducing the Cat Allergen Neutralizing Spray Starter Pack

The founders of Pacagen care about helping cat lovers minimize their cat allergies because they have family members who have experienced those dreaded symptoms when cuddling their precious fur baby. The most common solution for allergies tends to be allergy medicine, but many people are prone to side effects like drowsiness, nausea, and upset stomach. So, they set out to create something more palatable – and overall just better.

The result is a neutralizing spray that works thanks to its star ingredient: an Allergen Neutralizing Powder made of nanobodies, a protein that binds to and neutralizes the Fel d 1 protein mentioned earlier.

What’s Included in the Cat Allergen Neutralizing Spray Starter Pack

When my package arrived, I was thrilled at the prospect of inviting one of my friends with notorious cat allergies over. He has been hesitant to visit my new place because he’s dealt with cat allergies his whole life. But, I was determined to create a welcoming environment that didn’t include drowsy allergy medicine. So I got started on opening up my starter pack to begin mixing the formula.

The starter pack included just three things: a neutralizing powder, which contains the formula’s star ingredient, the nanobodies. You’ll also find the stabilizing solution, which helps the nanobodies last longer inside the spray bottle. Lastly, the pack includes a spray bottle with an easy application nozzle that evenly distributes the formula. The formula is non-toxic, but the nozzle is childproof, just for extra peace of mind.

After laying out the kit, I followed the steps outlined in the packaging and started spraying the formula in the easy-to-use spray bottle.

Sounds Great – But Did It Work?

Say goodbye to 98% of cat allergens

One of the first things I noticed about the neutralizing spray was how light the scent was and how evenly it sprayed from the nozzle. I recently got new furniture, so I was initially concerned about residue or discoloration, but the spray is largely unnoticeable once it landed on my sofa, ottomans, pillows, rugs and cushions.

After a couple of days of consistently spraying the product, I invited a handful of friends including my buddy who tears up at the sight of cats and another who has mild, manageable cat allergies. Both were able to sit on my sofa and cozy up for a movie night with fewer symptoms. My friend with milder symptoms did eventually sneeze a few times later that evening, but this was because she chose to pick up my cat and kiss her furry forehead several times.

In my experience, the product does offer some immediate relief to allergy sufferers and the biggest challenge will be to remember to spray it every couple of days while I figure out what cadence works best for my loved ones. It’s important to note that once mixed together into the spray bottle, the formula only remains effective for two months.

Priced at $60, this starter pack is very well worth the price, especially since the spray only needs to be used every few days to start making your home more comfortable to friends who may be allergic to your feline friend.

I love that Pacagen was born out of a necessity to make family members comfortable around cats and the amount of research done to find a solution for all future cat owners who love kittens but hate itchy eyes.

If you’re a cat lover with friends who can only love your fur baby from afar, Pacagen’s neutralizing spray is definitely one to keep on hand.
