Tableaus of Style:
It’s the little luxuries that make home gatherings feel extra special, transforming casual get-togethers into memorable moments. If you’re tapped into the media buzz, you know that tablescapes are taking the queen bee title when it comes to stunning visuals gracing Instagram feeds—from decadent floral arrangements to charcuterie spreads that look almost too good to eat. All while the era of the frazzled host has evolved into the effortlessly chic "it girl" who can pull off a flawless spread without breaking a sweat (or at least make it look that way).
Creating the perfect fall tablescape is like following a recipe: start with a bold yet easy-on-the-eyes color scheme, layer in harmonized dishware, stir in creativity, and finish with just a pinch of Virgo (my sign) -like perfectionism. It’s all about striking the right balance between style and comfort. And tablescapes aren’t just a summer affair.
Instead of planning an extravagant outing, I find there's something wonderfully inviting about gathering friends and family around a long table at home. It fosters this warm sense of intimacy and ensures everyone is part of the conversation—a more personal alternative to the hustle and bustle of a restaurant or bar. There’s no rushing out due to time commitments. Plus, an at-home gathering can be as low-budget or as extravagant as the host desires. And for those of us celebrating fall birthdays, it’s the perfect birthday party idea to make sure the table is as memorable as the moments shared around it.
Our Place has swiftly gained recognition as the go-to brand for elevating any table setting. Renowned for its vibrant, all-in-one cookware and tableware, the brand has become a must-have in kitchens everywhere. I have been following Our Place since its inception (we’ve written a lot about them HERE, HERE, and HERE), long before the brand had its viral moment with the beloved Always Pan, an iconic partnership with Selena Gomez, and most recently unveiled Radhi Devlukia-Shetty as their latest collaborator. So, it only made sense that when designing my 35th birthday party tablescape, I chose Our Place.
It Starts with a Good Base:
In my personal hostess rulebook, the best table designs always begin with a strong foundation. For me, that means selecting pieces that don’t just look good but truly anchor the entire setup. I’ve found that when your tableware feels intentional, it sets the tone for the whole event. No surprise that Our Place’s tableware sets checked all the boxes. With their gorgeous range of colors that seamlessly fit any aesthetic, they were an easy choice. I went with the Classic Stacking Sets in Spice — a soft pink with a terra cotta rim. Paired with my Marin Desert Green linen tablecloths from Crate & Barrel, it created the perfect balance of warm and cool tones. The end result? A table that felt fun, fresh, and sophisticated all at once. Friends who know me understand my love for keeping spring colors alive year-round–it was about 75 degrees at 5pm after all– and this setup made that happen effortlessly.
Of course, beautiful tableware needs the right backdrop, which is where my Haven Dining Set from Neighbor came in. Its long, clean lines and spacious design made it the ideal canvas for my tablescape, accommodating all my guests comfortably without feeling cramped. I only have the six-seater, so improvising by extending the table to fit my 15 guests was a bit of a creative challenge, — but in true MacGyver style, I made it work! And here’s the tip: if you’re short on table space, don’t stress. You can always extend your dining area by pulling out an extra table you’ve got tucked away, even if it’s a folding one from the garage. Just throw a beautiful tablecloth over it, set it up with your chosen décor, and no one will ever know the difference.
Living in LA, where fall is truly just an extension of summer with the occasional gust of wind or droplets of rain, the setup felt effortlessly fitting. The vibe was relaxed but pulled together, the kind of effortless style that makes everyone feel welcome.
Looking Through My Rosa-Colored Glasses:
Let’s get to the fun part — making everything look extra pretty! For me, setting the table is where I get to bring my personal style into the mix, and it’s all about finding that sweet spot between casual and polished. Our Place’s Sage Loop Napkins brought in this perfect earthy vibe that grounded the whole setup, making everything feel warm and inviting. And of course, I had to add a pop of color, so I went with their tinted Rosa-colored Night + Day Glassware Sets — a little bit playful, a little bit elegant, and the perfect way to bring some subtle contrast.
Now, I’ve always been a fan of matching things — workout sets, loungewear sets, home décor, you name it — so it just felt right to have my serving pieces complement the dishware. I chose Our Place’s Serving Sets in the color Steam because, with all the colorful food dishes I was serving, I wanted something that would balance everything out. Plus, let’s be real, the neutral tone makes the food really pop, which is always easy eye candy and a win when you’re playing hostess.
What I love most is how these pieces aren’t just about looks — they’re super functional too. Everything is stackable, so cleanup is a breeze, and the best part? They hardly take up any space in my cabinets. Each piece fits perfectly on top of the other, and every time I stack a plate, it feels like I’m building a gorgeous work of art in my kitchen. My cabinets look so organized and sleek, almost like a sculpture in their own right. It all came together effortlessly, making the table feel cohesive and inviting without trying too hard.
Best Investment Platter Set(s)
Our Place has the best homeware and I said what! I! said! This serving set comes with eight pieces of bowls, platters, and plates, all in different sizes that stack neatly atop one another. They’re chip-resistant, sturdy, and dishwasher-safe (thank you, restaurant-grade stoneware!) Oh, and it’s heat resistant…up to 350 degrees.

Behind the Scenes:
Everything can only look as good as the effort that goes on behind the scenes, and for my 35th birthday, Chef Shane Fatemian, formerly the head chef at Soho House West Hollywood based here in LA was the secret sauce. He’s the shining star when it comes to all things food and taste, helping to curate a menu that was guaranteed to be a winner, blending my favorite vibrant summer classics with elegant accents.
We started with a stunning crudités board featuring hummus and eggplant dip as appetizers. The main menu boasted Grilled Lemon and Saffron Chicken, roasted heirloom carrots drizzled with a truffle honey glaze and topped with whipped goat cheese, and a beet and apple salad finished with pomegranate molasses. My mouth is watering just recalling it all. There was also seared ahi tuna crusted in sesame seeds, along with Meyer lemon parmesan and toasted pistachio green beans. Each dish was as colorful and delicious as it sounds.
We’ve all heard of farm-to-table, but what really stood out for my birthday party wasn’t just the fresh ingredients — it was everything that happened in between. Chef Shane Fatemian worked his magic in the kitchen, and watching him use Our Place’s Better Bowl Set (which I got in Sage Green) made the prep feel just as special as the meal itself. From mixing marinades to tossing salads, these bowls were a game-changer, easing every step.
Chef Shane is all about efficiency, and the Better Bowl Set aided in keeping everything organized. He used the built-in grater for fresh lemon zest and the juicer for those perfect Meyer lemon squeezes. The sturdy, non-slip bases were key, keeping the bowls steady while he whisked and mixed without any slipping around on the counter — a huge sigh of relief for clean-up later.
What I loved most was seeing how the bowls stacked neatly, leaving my kitchen clutter-free despite all the prep work going on. The fact that they’re made from over 60% recycled materials was just the cherry on top. I admire the way this set combines eco-consciousness with practicality. And when Chef Shane was finished, the transparent lids meant he could pop the leftovers directly into the fridge without the need for extra containers. Watching him use these tools really brought to life how the right equipment can elevate the entire cooking process, making the experience seamless from start to finish.
My Place, Your Place, Our Place
As a party host, there are always a few key takeaways, and after my 35th birthday, one lesson stood out: no matter how big or grand your tablescape is, what truly matters is the company you share it with. Creating a space that strikes the balance between cozy and elegant is always my goal — where everyone feels comfortable, yet a little spoiled by the details. At the end of the day, the meal becomes a backdrop to the laughter and connection around the table.
And when it comes to pulling that off, I think Our Place is the perfect way to make it happen. Their pieces aren’t just beautiful — they’re practical too, making hosting feel effortless. From the way the bowls stack so neatly to the subtle pop of color in the glassware, every detail made my birthday feel extra special. It’s those little touches that turn a simple gathering into something memorable, helping you host with ease and without stress.
They say food is the universal language, and I think Our Place just may be the perfect translator.
