Reader: Hi! Looking for straight pants for curvy butts and calves. Everything I’ve found is looking too tight.
Remi: Why is shopping for pants always so difficult!? Luckily for you, I think we have exactly the recommendation you are looking for: Abercrombie Curve Love. Curve Love is a collection designed specifically for curvy body types. Compared to Abercrombie’s regular jeans, Curve Love jeans have an extra 2” through the hip and thigh. These added inches help eliminate the waist-gap (when you have to size up in the waist to find something that fits you in the butt) and create an overall more comfortable fit. The Curve Love Ultra High Rise 90’s Straight Jean ($89) comes in so many washes, sizes, and lengths. If you’re struggling with tightness in the calves, I’d recommend trying a looser, relaxed jean like the Curve Love High Rise 90’s Relaxed Jean ($89). They’re slim at the top, but roomier at the bottom which could solve the pain points you described. While it’s not technically a straight leg jean, the fit isn’t flared or frumpy making it a great swap for the classic straight leg.

Reader: Do you have a recommendation for the best carry on bag?
Remi: Summer travel is almost in full swing and no matter where you’re going you’ll probably need a good carry-on bag. I’m not sure if you’re looking for a weekender bag you can take on short flights and road trips or a small suitcase that fits in a plane’s overhead compartment, so I’m going to go ahead and share some recommendations for both. For a weekender bag, the Beis Weekender ($108) comes highly recommended by TQE writers, and travelers. It has a bottom compartment where you can put things you don’t want touching the rest of your stuff, like dirty shoes! So smart. Lo & Sons also makes a great weekender bag with a bottom shoe compartment. The Catalina Deluxe ($215) is very lightweight for its size, making it a nice travel companion. For carry-on suitcases, we’re fans of the July Carry-On ($295), CalPak Hue Mini Carry-On ($165), and Paravel Aviator ($395), among others. Check out our DTC luggage guide for a deeper dive on those picks.
Reader: Hi! In need of fragrance diffusers that last a while. Any recs?
Remi: Nest! My mom got me hooked on Nest New York diffusers and they’re truly a gamechanger. They’re an amazing way to ensure your space is always filled with delicious aromas with little to no effort– just set them up and let them be. Choose from the classic reed diffusers (from $58), plug-in wall diffusers (from $30), electronic misting diffuser ($98), or Pura smart home diffuser ($85). If you’re simply looking for duration, the misting diffuser or the Pura will last probably forever (all you need to do is plug in the respective devices), though you’ll need to buy new aromatherapy diffusing oils every few months. The classic reed diffusers claim to give you approximately 180 days of luxurious fragrance, while the plug-in wall diffusers are only expected to last 30. All of these diffuser options offer a delightful olfactory experience, it’s really a matter of your fragrance needs. If you’re worried about running out of scented oils or diffuser refills, Nest does offer subscriptions so you’re always stocked.
Reader: Can you help me with gifts for my dad…he’s impossible to shop for.
Remi: Aren’t all dads. I’m not sure what your dad is like, or what he likes, but generally speaking you can’t go wrong gifting him something that has to do with one of his passions. Let’s say he loves to play tennis. How about a Theragun Mini ($199) to help him decompress post-match? Or, is he the king of the grill? Get him some of the highest quality steaks money can buy with a gift box from Snake River Farms. If he still keeps his money in his pocket with a money clip, a Ridge Wallet ($125) will be a welcomed upgrade. It’s not too fancy, but it’s thoughtfully designed to make sure dad always has his essentials handy, and safe. It even comes with a lifetime warranty! Check out our Father’s Day gift guide for even more gift ideas for all different types of dads. Hopefully in there you’ll find something for yours!

Reader: Looking for gifts for men that aren’t gadgets or junk. Any ideas?
Remi: For starters, check out our answers to the question above! That might be a good starting point for some inspiration for you. With gadgets and junk out of the question, there are still so many great gifts for men out there. Not to be too redundant, but as I said above I think a great starting point is finding something he’s passionate about and using that as the basis for your gift. Think supplies, tools, accessories for said passion. But, since we don’t have the specificities of what kind of man you’re shopping for, I’ll throw out some general options. A vintage- inspired cast-iron skillet from Smithey ($210) to help him hone in on his pan fry. A Wellen Chore Coat ($198) that’s durable enough to wear for housework and comfortable enough for everyday. If he’s a kid at heart, go for something like a challenging LEGO set or a White Mountain Puzzle ($20) that pays homage to his favorite decade.
