We like
We don't like
After moving into our first home a little over two years ago, we did what most first time home buyers do: realized we had very little money left over to actually decorate! Slowly but surely we curated the space to our taste, but one of the things that constantly got put on the backburner was custom window treatments. The previous owner had installed budget-friendly custom black privacy screens, which did the trick for a while but we knew wouldn’t work with our aesthetic over time.
Enter Loom Decor, a custom home decor company that offers everything from bedding and pillows to window treatments galore to help us finally finish the space two years later. Loom Decor offers a unique approach to interior decor, with customization at the forefront of its approach. The brand’s mission is to give its customers one-of-a-kind, high-quality home textiles without breaking the bank.
You can choose from more than 400 beautiful designer fabrics — a tough choice when you’re as indecisive as we are — to create your ideal decor that will either blend seamlessly with your existing design choices or act as a statement piece.
How It Works
For those who may have a hard time picking a design, you can take inspiration from a catalog of curated picks from Loom Decor’s designers. If you’re interested in designing your own decor pieces, you’ll start with a blank canvas. From there, choose every aspect of your design, including the size, fabric, and trim – with the help of a professional if you so choose.
Loom Decor’s DTC approach provides customers with a personalized shopping experience. Whether you’re choosing an existing design or are creating your own, Loom Decor offers 30-minute design consultations via video call to answer any burning questions about styles, measurements, installation, and more. Every single piece of decor and fabric has been handcrafted in the US by Loom Decor’s expert team, and with the custom service, you can create decor that’s uniquely yours. You’re able to request swatch samples to get familiar with your favorite fabrics before finalizing your order.
Depending on the piece, there’s a design time of between one to four weeks. If you’re looking at purchasing window treatments from Loom Decor, styles include Roman shades, woven blinds, and drapery. Roman shades are a timeless classic and you can choose from hundreds of fabrics and designs, including your choice of chain loop or cordless closing. Woven blinds are a wonderful way to bring warmth and a rustic feel to your space, and drapery exudes elegance, no matter whether you pick linen or velvet. I’m one of those people who can’t sleep without a blackout blind, so I was super excited to learn that all of Loom Decor’s window treatments can be made in three different privacy styles: unlined, privacy lined, and blackout lined.
To complement your window treatments, the hardware is available in six finishes and nine final options. While curtain rails and holdbacks may not be something that you’ve ever given much thought to, well-designed hardware will take your window treatments to the next level. While Loom Decor doesn’t offer professional installations of their window treatments, they have plenty of handy guides to ensure DIYers are measuring the right size and installing them the correct way. We opted for our handyman to handle the install which was a complete breeze using the provided hardware.
Personalization At Its Best
In addition to Loom Decor’s strength in the window treatment department, their textile selection was equally impressive to consider for soft furnishings in our space. Scrolling through the Throw Pillow product page, I was presented with several options to customize: the front, back, insert, size, and trim. From linen to sateen to velvet, you can choose between solid colors or playful patterns. For the insert, the options are down inserts or poly fiber inserts; cushion cover-only options are also available. The five sizes range from 16” to 24”, and if you’re interested in a pillow trim, you can pick between cord, microcord, flange, and tape.
30-minute Loom Decor design consultations are available several times a week to suit various schedules and time zones. On the call, customers can expect to have all of their design questions answered by a professional, whether they want to know the best methods to measure their windows for treatments, the best fabric choices to suit their style aesthetic or guidance on the ordering process. Prior to a consultation, it is recommended to have some of Loom Decor’s fabric swatches — which are anything from 50 cents to $1 to order — on hand so you can reference your favorite styles and colors.
As with all of Loom Decor’s products, prices vary on the type of materials. A 16” throw pillow starts at $52, and prices increase depending on which fabric, pattern, and inserts you choose. Playing around with the various styles is a lot of fun, and there is a handy dollar sign guide next to every category, ensuring you stay mindful of your budget.
If you want your home decor to stand out from the crowd, Loom Decor is for you. While most of the pieces are 40% less than what they would cost in a design showroom, going custom is still an investment. However, the brand offers a range of products for many budgets. Don’t forget to check out the sale items, which will save you a pretty penny while still offering the luxurious high-quality products that Loom Decor prides itself on.
We are thrilled with how our space came together and were amazed and how big of an impact the custom window treatments had in making the space feel truly finished. For a totally customizable shopping experience that feels personable, Loom Decor gets our vote, and it should get yours too!
