I’m not too proud to admit that while I have many strengths as a mom, planning meals in a pinch is not one of them. Keeping it super real: I have, in fact, served several granola bars and peanut butter on a tortilla for lunch before. I have a lot going on over here – and I welcome any help I can get where it makes sense – so when I discovered Little Spoon’s healthy, pre-made baby, toddler, and kids meals, I was beyond excited to give them a try. Could this be the win-win I was looking for?

All About Little Spoon
Little Spoon was founded with a single mission: to make parents’ lives easier. When the founders started Little Spoon, they were fed up with the options for baby and toddler food. That’s why they decided to make a change: baby and kid’s meals made with thoughtful ingredients that you can feel good about.
H-O-T T-O GO
When I first went to the site to order, I noticed that Little Spoon’s meals are broken out by stage. We have a 13-month-old and an almost 3-year-old, so we focused most of our energy on the “Biteables,”cut-to-size finger food meals intended for newer eaters, and the “Plates,” larger kid’s meals intended for kids and toddlers. Though we don’t have any food allergies in our family, the attention to detail with regard to food allergies definitely stuck out.
I have plenty of friends whose babies struggle with different allergies, ranging from eggs to gluten to wheat. Each potential allergen is explicitly called out, leaving no room for error. We got a variety of meals for both boys, added some Smoothies and YoGos pouches, and just a few short days later, it arrived on our doorstep!
I’m always amazed at how frozen and refrigerated foods are shipped. I’ve also had some negative experiences with cold shipping, but this was not one! Everything was fresh when it arrived to our family. My husband was the first one to receive the shipment while I was away on a work trip. He sent me a picture a few hours later of an empty blue plate (Little Spoon’s signature color!) with a text that said “I made them 4 of these.” In his solo dad era for a few days, he was in heaven feeding them these easy little meals.
Most of the meals can either be microwaved or heated on the stovetop. Some, namely the Lunchers, don’t need to be heated up at all. This was also a godsend this past weekend, when we did the 3-day potty training method. This requires you to keep your eyes on your kid at all times for signs of potty, so even making food for him was a challenge. Thankfully, this burden was lessened enormously by Little Spoon!

The Toddler Taste Test
If saying that the kids had 4 meals in one sitting wasn’t enough for you, my older son has literally been begging for these meals. While at first my feelings were a little hurt wondering if he doesn’t like my cooking, I was just happy to have him eating something so consistently.
With him in particular, we’ve struggled with eating lately. He is particular – and he’s a slow eater when he doesn’t care for something. Not with the Little Spoon meals! His top favorites are the Chicken Super Nuggets and the Slow-Cooked Bolognese.
My 13-month-old really enjoys these meals too. He’s a pretty good eater (thank you, baby-led weaning!) and the Biteables meals have been perfect to continue that journey. They are made with cut-to-size ingredients to help ease the transition into table food. His favorites are the Mini White Mac and Cheese and the Mini Cheesy Pasta. These are jam-packed with veggies and frankly, I’m not quite sure he realizes it… and I’m perfectly okay with that!
Another thing I love about the Biteables is the extra TLC Little Spoon puts into ensuring complete transparency. The meals are tested for 500+ toxins and contaminants and never contain artificial flavors, synthetic colors, or sweeteners. Basically, these meals have the good stuff – and none of the junk other pre-made baby foods have.
Will We Continue to Order?
Ah, the question of the century: a product can be great, but is it worth your hard-earned money? For me, the answer is yes, but not as an everyday solution. More power to you if you go that route, but for our budget and parenting style, we’ll likely continue to purchase to use in a pinch. I’m so thankful that these meals have saved me so many times already – and they will continue to power our family in the months and years to come!
