Sometimes, no matter how much lotion I apply, it never seems enough. Add that to the fact that most days, I’m too lazy to apply moisturizer on anything besides my face, and it’s no wonder my skin feels dry 90% of the time.
I’m all about finding easier ways to do things. Instead of applying lotion once or twice a day, I prefer to have something at my desk or bedside table that I can use quickly and easily to achieve my skin hydrating goals.
That’s where Kate McLeod comes in.
If you find it hard to maintain a consistent moisturizing routine, there’s something that has made it much easier: a lotion bar.
When I saw one of my favorite creators, Courtney Halverson of @PrettyLittleFawn, sharing her experience with Kate McLeod’s Daily Stone, I knew I had to buy one (and a few other treats).
We like
- Light scent featuring botanical ingredients
- Deeply hydrating
- Easy to apply to skin
- Convenient and mess-free
We don't like
- Stones do require more care than storing lotion bottles
- Price points are on the higher side
Body care rituals that are anything but routine
I browsed the selection of body stones and had a hard time narrowing down the options:
- Daily Stone: Perfect for everyday use and features a blend of rose, neroli, and frankincense – scents I naturally gravitate toward.
- Sleep Stone: Everything you’d want in a bedtime routine. Soft skin with hints of herbal fragrance to evoke calmness.
- Clearing Stone: For those who want to add a little ritual to their self-care routine, the palo santo, lavender, and clary sage in this formula work to hydrate skin and cleanse negative energy.
While I wanted everything the brand offers, I narrowed my purchases to the Daily Stone, the Body Mitt, and Daily Pebble Bath and Shower Oil.
Sustainable luxury and beautiful packaging
Kate McLeod places a lot of emphasis on being sustainable and made with safe ingredients.
As MADE SAFE certified, using human-safe ingredients is not enough—Kate McLeod goods are also certified safe for the ecosystem. Because climate change is such an important topic (and impacts physical and mental health), having a skincare brand do its part to minimize the environmental impact is super empowering.
Packaging is something I noticed right away when I received my order. To combat excessive waste in the beauty industry, Kate McLeod offers plastic-free packaging – something I love as a consumer.
Elegant glass jars store lotion bars and shower pebbles, which look gorgeous on the bathroom counter. I also appreciated that the lotion bar is wrapped in 100% cotton, which can be upcycled as a makeup wipe, reused to preserve the bars, or composted.
Kate McLeod’s Daily Stone elevates body care to indulgent heights
My skin soaks up lotion, and I’ve had difficulty finding a product that deeply hydrates for that glowing complexion I crave.
Because my skin tends to be dehydrated, the Daily Stone was a great introduction to the brand. The light scent of neroli and rose offered an elevated experience post-shower.
Here’s what you need to know about the Daily Stone: it comes as a solid but melts to the skin on contact. Featuring fatty acids, antioxidants, and botanical oils, the lotion bar richly hydrates skin while helping repair the skin barrier (key during dry or cold weather).
After every application, my skin glowed and felt super hydrated.
While it absorbs nicely into the skin, there was a (non-sticky or greasy) feeling after I applied it (but maybe that’s what it means to have hydrated skin? I wouldn’t know 😒).
Tip: The best way to use Kate McLeod lotion bars is after a bath or shower.
Hold the lotion to warm and soften the stone, then gently glide it across the skin to hydrate. The stone stays solid during the application, but your skin temperature allows it to spread easily without pulling or tugging. Once you’ve applied the lotion, massage it into the skin.
Like the Daily Stone in terms of a hydrating experience, the single-use Bath and Shower Oil Pebbles are warmed and activated with water, allowing you to relax and nourish your skin during your evening bathing ritual.
A lotion stone at my work desk and bedside makes it much easier to grab when I need extra hydration – especially during dryer seasons.
From a dry brush to the Body Gua Sha massage tool, lotion stones (for body and face), and bath pebbles, your skin will be grateful for the luxurious experience. Plus, there’s something to be said for creating a luxurious ritual with your body care!
