DRMTLGY Is Making Medical Grade Skin Care Accessible (and Affordable)

Having healthy and glowing skin is important to me as someone who’s never been one to wear much makeup. I count a few skincare brands as some of my favorite clients as a freelance writer, and some of my favorite people within my community are estheticians.

All that to say: I love learning about the world of skincare and getting my hands on new products to try. When DRMTLGY came across my radar, I was equally curious and interested to see what the brand was about.

A medical-grade skincare brand, DRMTLGY has a surprisingly affordable price point and collection of ingredients. From essentials like Vitamin C E+F to Tinted Moisturizer, plus targeted treatments such as retinol and retexturizing cream, DRMTLGY has everything you need to create an effective and well-rounded skincare routine.

What Is Medical-Grade Skincare?

There’s a major difference between skincare products at stores like Sephora and products labeled ‘medical grade.’

Medical grade indicates a higher concentration of active ingredients than what you’ll typically find in products sold in a retail store. This means the products work more effectively, going deeper into the layers of the skin than mainstream products.

Medical-grade skincare is also usually sold at a much higher price than its retail counterparts, but there’s a silver lining: because the ingredients are higher quality, you don’t need to use as much to see results.

Open my medicine cabinet, and you’ll see many retail and medical-grade skincare brands.

I firmly believe that you can integrate both into an effective routine, and I spend more money on serums, masks, and targeted treatments over products like toner, cleansers, moisturizers, and sunscreen I use in a morning routine.

My favorite daily morning and evening routine products include Paula’s Choice toner, Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen, Skinceuticals C E Ferulic, 1% Retinol, Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2, Eminence Organics Stone Crop Whip Moisturizer, CosMedix Simply Brightening Serum.

Effective Skincare For All

DRMTLGY follows two simple rules: the products must work and be good for you. That’s messaging I can get behind!

Skin care products must also be created with all skin types and concerns in mind. And as the skin is the largest organ in the body, it must be cared for and nourished with safe, gentle (but effective) formulas. DRMTLGY creates a collection of medical-grade skin care using potent ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, niacinamide (vitamin B3), pumpkin fruit extract, and various skin-nourishing peptides.

Here’s what else there is to love: The brand takes an SPF-first approach, putting special care into developing products that protect against sun exposure.

Incorporating DRMTLGY products into my current routine has been seamless, and I’ve found that each product feels really good after applying it to my skin. Here’s what I tried (and how it worked for me):

DRMTLGY Universal Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 46 ($28)

This formula is lightweight and nourishing (I love the added SPF and blue light protection, too!). It blends easily onto the skin and gives my face a healthy glow (it’s oil-free) thanks to vitamin E, niacinamide, and hyaluronic acid.

As a fair-skinned woman, the universal tinted formula did cover nicely (it does claim to work for all skin tones).

DRMTLGY Pumpkin Enzyme Mask ($42)

I am pretty diligent about exfoliating two to three times a week, alternating between physical and chemical exfoliants. This mask is awesome because it uses fruit enzymes from pumpkin to soften, smooth, and cleanse the skin naturally.

As a 4-in-1 mask, this powerhouse does it all!

After applying it to dry skin, I massaged it and waited for the soothing warming effect. Then I let it sit on my skin during my shower, and after about 10 minutes, I massaged my face again, allowing the jojoba beads in the mask to buff away dead skin cells gently.

Once I rinsed my face, the skin felt clean and soft, not dry or stripped of any natural moisture.

DRMTLGY Needle-less Serum ($69)

I was most excited to try this product because, hello, SERUM. Plus, this is DRMTLGY’s best-selling product.

This formula targets fine lines around the forehead, mouth, and eyes while hydrating the skin with ceramides and peptides. Though it does recommend using this serum twice a day, I only use it at night due to what I use in my morning routine.

After consistent use, my skin looks smoother, and those fine lines in my forehead are definitely looking smoother. Once I apply four to five drops to my hands and press them into my skin, it absorbs quickly so I can easily layer on my deeply hydrating nighttime moisturizer. Reviews for the DRMTLGY Needle-less Serum claim it’s like “Botox in a bottle,” and, you know what? I am on board with that statement.

DRMTLGY Day Dream SPF 40 ($36)

This is the sunscreen I’ve been reaching for in the morning before my Pilates or spin classes. As a waterproof and sweat-resistant formula, it stands up to the test of getting through a workout without running into my eyes.

It’s also 100% mineral (zinc oxide), making it a physical sunscreen with broad UVA/UVB sun protection. Unlike other mineral-based sunscreens I’ve tried, Day Dream applies easily without a white cast and gives my skin a super dose of hydration. This is a good one to try if you want a new sunscreen.

DRMTLGY Brightening Eye Masks ($44)

The skin around the eyes is so delicate it needs a little extra TLC, and the Brightening Eye Masks are super pampering and cooling to the undereye and crow’s feet.

Featuring niacinamide, caffeine, and hyaluronic acid ingredients, the eye masks effectively reduce puffy skin and brighten up dark circles. The skin around my eyes is often the first to look dehydrated, and after 10 minutes of wearing these masks, the skin looks supple.

Bonus tip: keep them in your fridge and apply them to the skin, then use an ice roller or jade roller to promote lymphatic drainage!

Final Thoughts On DRMTLGY

Each product I tried felt on par with some of the pricier counterparts in my medicine cabinet. If you want to dive into medical-grade skincare but don’t want to splurge, DRMTLGY is a great entry point!

I also really liked that my package came with materials that educated me about layering products and gave an in-depth explanation about some of the brand’s best-selling formulas. This is a great resource for anyone new to skincare or still a little uncertain about how to maximize ingredient application!
