Choosing the right diaper bag for your family is no easy task. As a mom of one (and soon to be two), I was totally underwhelmed by the options for diaper bags. So many of them lack functionality and most of all, any style whatsoever. If I’m going to be lugging “poo poo” supplies around, I might as well look half-decent doing it. After my extensive search for the perfect diaper bag, I compiled my favorites so you can spend more time with your kiddos and less time scouring the internet. Consider your search for a great diaper bag over!
For the Sporty Parent
I’m in love with the Indi Neoprene Diaper Backpack ($215 for large) from Dagne Dover. Not only can you choose which of the three sizes works best for your lifestyle, it also includes everything you could want as a parent of littles. Think stroller clips, a bottle holder, a wipeable changing mat, tons of zippers, and even a washable bag for… nasties. Beyond being incredibly functional, it also comes in several colors. So while it isn’t a cheap option, it is totally yours to customize.

For the Minimalist Parent
Minimalists, I can hear your audible sighs from here! I know what you’re thinking – the 7AM Enfant BK718 ($95) is too trendy to be functional. Quite the opposite. Designed to be a diaper bag as well as an everyday bag, this backpack is lightweight and includes only the essentials in my opinion (a changing pad and stroller straps). When your littles grow out of needing diapers everywhere, simply use it as your daily driver & you’ve got money well spent. Now that is minimalism done right.

For the Parent of Multiples
Cards on the table, this is the diaper bag I have – and I’m obsessed. Béis is female and mom-founded, which as a mom, I appreciate! Shey Mitchell, the founder of the brand, has children of her own and truly understands what it’s like being a new parent. The Backpack Diaper Bag ($148) is chic, spacious, and has some really unique features such as a teething ring and a pacifier pouch. For me, the selling point was actually the fact that it has a pocket designed specifically for wipes. It’s also quite large, meaning there is room for multiple kiddos’ stuff. If a backpack isn’t your style, Béis also has diaper bags that are over-the-shoulder.

For the Cool Parent
Caraa’s Baby Bag Nylon ($318 for a medium) is the bag I wish I was cool enough for. Not only does it look incredibly chic, it also has a smart design with your kiddos in mind. Described by the brand as “a Swiss Army knife for your parenting needs,” this vegan-friendly bag is a must-have for parents with rad street style. After all, you’re not a regular mom, you’re a cool mom.

For the Traveling Parent
The Lorimer Diaper Bag ($198) was designed with the parents in mind. With a laptop compartment as well as a side bottle sleeve for coffee and a luggage sleeve, this is the perfect bag for the on-the-go parent. I also love that you can personalize the bag with text in several different fonts, as well as adding a heart. What a sweet touch!

For the One Who Doesn’t Want a Backpack
I’m well aware that backpacks aren’t everyone’s speed. Allow me to introduce you to the Calpak Luca Duffel ($128). It’s big, yes, but let’s be real: kids have a lot of crap. With an exterior shoe compartment (you know, for when your toddler somehow loses a single shoe and you need a back-up pair ASAP) and ultra-lightweight material, this bag will last through many parenting seasons from babies to testy teens.

For the Breastfeeding Parent
I have not breastfed my children (since they’re adopted), but this Cloud 9 Multi-Use Nursing Bag + Sling ($65) still caught my eye. At a reasonable price, you can use it as not just a diaper bag, but also a purse and a sling to assist in breastfeeding on the go. Think of it like a nursing pillow but better. This would make a great gift for the nursing mama in your life… or an equally great gift for yourself.
