Self love evenings are game changing. I adore the evening hours I spend with myself, for myself – exactly the way I like. Oftentimes, these are spent ordering my favorite meal in, taking a warm bath, and using some post-bath lotion or massage oils.
I’ve landed in a beautiful relationship with a partner who loves self love evenings as much as I do, so our bath evenings are now shared – and include post-bath massages. We have delved into the world of melting candles, oils, stones and lotions in order to recommend our favorites. For pairs whose love language is touch, these 8 products will add a touch of flare, spice or relaxation to your evenings spent massaging.

Maudes’ candle is a great alternative to a traditional oil. Massage candles were new to us but made for a fun experience. You light the candle for 10 to 15 minutes to ensure enough of the oil is formed to use. While I was worried about the heat (I’m super sensitive), because this candle is oil-based, it’s set to a much lower burning temperature. We opted not to begin throwing wax directly on each other, but instead took small bouts with our fingers and massaged from there. The texture is richer than a typical oil. Plus, the scents had a number of layers:
no. 0: Unscented
no. 1: Warming notes of amber, cedar leaf, clove, lemongrass, medjool date, and tonka bean
no. 2: Bright notes of pink pepper, gurjun balsam, lemon California, and cedarwood Virginia
no. 3: Fresh notes of eucalyptus, sandalwood, cassis, and Haitian vetiver

Sometimes I need a little extra help relaxing in the evening hours and disconnecting from work. While I mentioned sometimes a bath can do the trick, it doesn’t always. I find myself continuing to have racing thoughts and need something extra to soothe my mind. Throwing on a meditation for my partner and I both to enjoy to help us check out and pairing it with ChillHouses’ Have A Chill Night Body Oil is my perfect remedy. It helps soothe and calm your skin while promoting oxygen and blood flow. The unique makeup of ingredients including Blue Tansy, Calendula Officinalis, Vitamins F & E and almond oil will help you maximize your rest.

A category of massage oils I did not know existed until recently was edible massage oils. C60 or Carbon 60 was founded by scientist Ken Swartz. He discovered C60 and it is “the single-most powerful antioxidant ever discovered—a naturally occurring molecule that may be the most amazing chemistry discovery of the century.” While I imagined edible massage oils would taste like cotton candy or vanilla frosting, this is something a lot more natural! The C60 Edible Massage oil is unscented but made with organic avocado oil and 99.99% pure, sublimated Carbon 60.

The last of our list is another edible alternative, with flavors that may entice a wider audience! Living libations’ body butters pack a punch. It infuses skin with a sense of silkiness that is unparalleled. It easily slides all over your body in the way you’d want a massage oil to tackle! And the best part? The delicious flavors. Livingearthbeauty invites you to “melt into your pleasurable paradise” with options ranging from vanilla-cinnamon-coconut-cacao, peppermint-vanilla-grapefruit or my favorite, the Languid Love Butter with essences of ylang, jasmine, vanilla, nutmeg, schizandra, ginger & lemon blended into coconut crème, jojoba & cacao butter.
