I like to think that inside of me are two beings: One who treats their body like a toxin-free temple and another that identifies as a flat-out trash goblin. Sure, I may partake in the occasional girl dinner consisting of handfuls of shredded cheese and Diet Coke, but I also know that it’s not sustainable long-term.
So, I’m forever in the process of learning to let these inner creatures coexist, finding balance and compromise in the areas where it counts — particularly rest and relaxation. I’m well aware that CBD can help to improve my sleep, aid with aches, and take the edge off anxiety, but I had been unimpressed with what I had tried so far. Were my lackluster results from my own user error? Subpar product? A confusing consumer experience? Turns out, it’s was a little of everything — until now.
Because CBD is still a relative newcomer to the world of wellness, its recent surge in popularity means that both regulations and consumer education haven't quite caught up. The result is a murky market for customers that is confusing at best, and potentially harmful at its worst— thanks to unregulated synthetic CBD sources and pesticide use. It’s a user experience that Cornbread Hemp, a Kentucky-grown and operated hemp company, wants to address up front.

- Fully federally legal, USDA certified organic, and shippable, so you’re not getting your CBD from a sketchy dispensary.
- High potency cannabinoids derived strictly from 100% hemp flowers — no roots, stems, leaves, or seeds.
- Third party testing with lab analysis reports for your batch available via QR codes on each jar.

- If you need extra strength (3000mg), the price point of $124.99 for 30 gummies — or $99 for a monthly subscription — can be costly.
- While you won’t get “high”, their THC edibles are psychoactive (similar to caffeine) which wasn’t abundantly clear on packaging. Start low and slow.
How Cornbread Hemp Cultivates Higher Standards
Cornbread Hemp has quickly become known for their hemp-derived CBD gummies and dedication to complete transparency. Their Kentucky operation employs a vertically-integrated operation system — meaning they control every step of their supply chain, from plant cultivation to manufacturing and retail. Fun fact: Kentucky sits on the same longitude line as the Hindu Kush mountains of Asia, where cannabis strains originated. Just like you wouldn’t want wine from barren arctic plains, the same could be said about hemp. Terroir matters.
They’re also creating fully legal THC gummies. Like me, you’re probably wondering how that’s even possible. According to the Farm Bill that passed in 2018, Congress allowed the sale of hemp-derived THC edibles throughout America (with the exception of Idaho) so long as they remained below the 0.3% THC limit. Now for some math: Cornbread Hemp’s THC gummies weigh five grams and 0.3% of those five grams would put the legal limit at 15mg of THC —so their 10mg gummies are well within the legal range.
In addition to strict adherence to legislation, they’re also fully vetting each batch for quality with third party testing. Every jar is emblazoned with a QR code that lets you access their COA (certificate of analysis) to see the full cannabinoid profile and levels of contaminants like pesticides, solvents, mycotoxins, and heavy metals. Don’t worry, you won’t find any of those in there.
Setting Realistic Expectations
What I didn’t know was how their CBD would make me feel — especially given my slight skepticism around CBD products. So for two full weeks (and with no expectations whatsoever), I tested two of Cornbread Hemp’s headliners: their Blueberry Breeze THC Gummies and CBD Sleep Gummies.
My concerns going into the Cornbread Hemp experiment:
- I’ve regularly relied on melatonin and over-the-counter sleep aids which leave me feeling groggy the next day.
- I wanted to heighten the ways I relax (like yoga or crafting), without any impaired cognitive function or hangover.
- My sleep quality had recently taken a nosedive with trouble falling asleep and occasional 3am stress spirals.
Operation Rest & Relaxation
While I had done some initial research on Cornbread Hemp ahead of time, I didn’t want to read too much into product reviews or praise. Knowing it would be impossible to compare my experiences to someone else online (we all have different bodies and concerns), I wanted to make sure I was ultimately listening to my body above all else through the process.
I knew going in that consistency was going to be my biggest challenge. Thankfully, Cornbread Hemp was one step ahead and provides a handy card to record your routine and dosages. Products with CBD can obviously be helpful in the moment to aid in restlessness and pain, but best results are seen cumulatively over time. I found it to be a thoughtful touch to ensure I was getting the most out of their products.
Cornbread Hemp’s CBD Gummies for Sleep are formulated with organic valerian root, chamomile, lavender, and full spectrum hemp flower — designed to be taken each night 30 minutes before bed.
I particularly appreciated that these gummies were melatonin-free. While it works for some, melatonin has always left me feeling groggy and full of brain fog the next day. Since I didn’t want to risk any next-day hangover, I opted for their lowest strength of 750mg. It wasn’t my favorite flavor-wise, but wasn’t enough of a deterrent to stop my trial.
I’ll admit that tracking sleep changes and progress was difficult at first. I still struggled to sleep through my husband’s snoring, still occasionally woke up at 3am, and still felt tired the next day due to the aforementioned sleep interruptions. But towards the end of my two-week trial, I realized that I had been gradually resting deeper and longer. Finally!

Cornbread Hemp describes their THC gummies as a way to achieve “carefree moments” with feelings of “happiness, comfort, and warmth.” Each gummy is vegan, gluten free, and contains 10mg of accurately dosed THC that can be scaled up or down (from a half-gummy to two full gummies) according to your preference. I honestly had no idea what to expect.
I decided to try a single gummy on a Saturday morning before I did some light stretching. After about 30 minutes, I realized I was extremely talkative and giggly. I definitely felt something that was more intense than my post-coffee zoomies but far less derailing than a cannabis-derived edible. (If you know, you know.)
Overall, it made for a joyful morning with the noticeable physical effects fading after two-ish hours. Though my first experience was during the day, I found that I preferred to occasionally take it at night as a way to help transition from a long work day.

The Cornbread Hemp Verdict
I was already aware that CBD is a tool that can be used to help navigate stress, anxiety, and chronic pain — all the things that let my inner trash goblin flourish. But it wasn’t until sticking to a regular, consistent routine (shocking, I know) with a brand that prioritizes quality that I was able to experience it firsthand.
With a USDA-organic certification, full transparency, and a strict adherence to ever-changing regulations, it’s clear that Cornbread Hemp is committed to doing the right thing — regularly going above and beyond what is expected from a CBD brand. So, consider me an official fan.
