No matter your feeding journey (fed is best!), all moms can agree that pumping is a chore. There’s nothing easy about it - it’s uncomfortable, requires a fair amount of prep and clean up, and is just downright inconvenient.
Thankfully, it’s gotten better over the years. Pumping with my first entailed a mess of cords and spillage – but technology (and my life!) has improved as I’ve welcomed my third. Now, there’s a bevy of cordless options that offer hospital-grade suction that’s both comfortable and convenient.
Two of the most popular brands on the market are Willow and Momcozy, each of which offers several options for new moms. Below, I’ve put two of their fan-favorite cordless options, the Willow Go and Momcozy M5, to the test – diving into everything from functionality to wearability and washability. Read to the end for my winner!

The Players
Willow: Willow focuses on convenient pumping and is known for its extremely convenient and tech-savvy options that fit inside of your bra (no cords! on any of them!). We’ve long been fans of the Willow 3.0, but tested out the Willow Go for this throwdown.
Momcozy: Momcozy offers a suite of maternity, bra, and feeding products. The brand offers five pumps designed with mom in mind – some require an attachable motor, while others fit into the bra completely. We tried out the All-in-one M5 pump to see how it stacks up against the Willow Go.
Test 1: Functionality
Willow Go: This hands-free, base free, cord-free pump offers hospital-grade suction, which means more efficient pumping. It also boasts 15 different levels of suction, so you can customize your experience to your body’s changing preferences. It offers versatility, too: choose between 5 and 7 oz. containers – and they’re reusable! Willow even claims that the Willow Go can extend your feeding journey by an average of 4 months. While I have yet to prove this, I have found that so far I’m getting more output than I did with my wall pump, so we’re on the right track!
Momcozy M5: The M5 boasts a “Baby Mouth,” which means it has a horizontal angle to mimic the suckling angle of a baby for comfort. It also offers a vibrate-to-pump mode designed to loosen the ducts for a smoother pump. While Willow Go has 15 suction levels, the MomCozy has 9, in addition to its 3 modes (stimulate, express, mixed). I’ve gotten a similar output for both – both work, and they work well (and comfortably!).
Winner: Tie
Test 2: Technology
Willow Go: Willow really shines here. First and foremost, I only have to charge this pump every 3 sessions or so, which is a huge plus because I often forget to plug it in. Its long battery life has saved me on multiple occasions! Plus, it’s app-connected and offers a lot of tracking: you can start/stop the pump through the app, control its suction (the brand’s proprietary technology responds directly mimics a baby’s latch), and track how long and how much you’ve pumped. I have several tech-forward products that make this stage of the journey so much easier, and the Willow Go fits directly into this suite!
Momcozy M5: This pump only has a 100-120 minute battery life, so I have to charge it much more regularly. I’ve had a couple of instances where I went to put it on, realized it was dead, and had to use the Willow Go instead. Plus, it’s not app-connected, so the M5 is pretty unimpressive in this category.
Winner: Willow Go
Test 3: Wearability
Willow Go: I was shocked at how comfortable this pump is! I shouldn’t have been considering it has a 100% comfort rating, but what can I say? I’m a skeptic. It fits seamlessly into my bras, so much so that I’ve run errands and visited friends while wearing it – and they didn’t notice until I told them!
Momcozy: The M5 doesn’t have a motor (some MomCozy options do), so it can also be worn easily on the go. It’s also extremely quiet – an easy-to-wear option as well!
Winner: Tie
Test 4: Washability
Willow Go: As any parent to a newborn – let alone multiple littles – will tell you, keeping things tidy is a full time job. Luckily, five out of the Willow Go’s six parts are dishwasher safe, so it’s easy to toss in and keep things moving.
Momcozy: The M5 is hand wash only, which is a bummer. It’s not the end of the world, but it’s worth noting!
Winner: Willow Go
Overall Winner: Willow
I mentioned this at the start, and I'd be remiss not to mention again that a fed baby is best! And, luckily, both of these pumps are great options. Because I’ve been tasked with choosing a favorite, I’ve got to give some extra love to Willow. It’s an expensive product – there’s no getting around that – but if you can afford it, I recommend the brand wholeheartedly.
I’ve been pleased with so many elements of this pump – most notably that it works really, really well and my output is better than ever! And, because I’m so used to data-driven products these days, I really love its connectivity and data tracking capabilities.
More than anything, I’m so grateful to be able to pump so comfortably on the go. This chapter of life is so beautiful, and it’s also really hard work! Having the ability to pump from anywhere is really freeing, and also simple. Give it a go – I hope you love it as much as I do!
