As a mom of an exclusively formula-fed 7-month-old, we’ve tried all sorts of baby bottles over the last few months. We’ve seen it all: leakage, impossible cleaning, and perhaps most hauntingly: nipple collapses. However you choose to feed your baby, we’ve compiled a list of our favorite baby bottles that we’ve tried that might just help. Drink up, baby!

Nipple Type: Vented |Leakage: None | Cleaning: Easy | Value: 5/5

I rarely am so definitive in my favorite products in lineups like this, but that is how good the Philips Avent bottle line is. From the time my son was a few months old, we’ve really latched (puns) onto this bottle. With zero noticeable leakage to the incredibly easy cleaning and reassembly, it shows that it was made by all-around medical professionals. If you’re looking for a trusty steed for your baby’s bottles, this is it.

Nipple Type: Custom | Leakage: A little out of baby’s mouth – still working on latching | Cleaning: Easy | Value: 5/5

I recently was introduced to Emulait, a brand that is innovating the bottle-feeding space like never before! With a custom starter kit, you’ll get 2 bottles (1 anatomy and 1 classic), a cleaning brush, 2 custom nipples, 3 flow control devices, and a 1:1 feeding session. In order to get the custom nipples, you can actually scan your breast into their app to identify which nipple is closest to yours. I loved this as an adoptive mom, since I’ve never had the chance to breastfeed. It was fast, easy, and confidential to scan. We had some trouble latching to the new nipple shape, but I was supported in my included 1:1 feeding session by an amazing coach. The feeding session alone is worth $55! I only wish I was introduced to them sooner.

The unique straw design stands out. Credit: Dr. Brown’s

Nipple Type: Vented | Leakage: Quite a bit in my experience | Cleaning: Moderately difficult | Value: 4/5

Dr. Brown’s Anti-Colic was the main bottle we used when my son first came home from the hospital. I absolutely loved them for a while, as I truly felt the unique straw design was helping prevent colic. He did suffer stomach issues in the beginning and these bottles, I felt, made a noticeable difference. However, over time, I noticed more and more leaking from them. Perhaps I should have replaced different parts in them to solve the issue, but alas, hindsight is 20:20. Speaking of parts, these puppies are no joke to clean, with several different parts making up the straw design. Again, in my humble opinion, they may be worth it in the beginning of baby’s life, but for us, it wasn’t one we chose to continue with.

Chicco Duo Hybrid Baby Bottle

Nipple Type: Vented | Leakage: A little | Cleaning: Easy | Value: 4/5

Admittedly, I was shocked at how much I liked Chicco’s Duo Hybrid Bottles. With glass on the inside and plastic on the outside of the bottle (hence “duo”), I love how lightweight this bottle is – while keeping potential microplastics out of my baby’s body. The nipple is longer and flatter than other nipples, but somehow still works really well for my son. Cleaning is easy, with just a few parts to disassemble, and it is even dishwasher-safe. They are moderately priced, but certainly add up if you’re trying to stock up.

Best for Breastfed Babies

Nipple Type: Angled | Leakage: Some | Cleaning: Easy | Value: 4.5/5

As mentioned previously, I didn’t get the opportunity to breastfeed them. So since I literally couldn’t try this one, I turned to the expert opinions of others! I’ve heard amazing things about the brand haakaa, especially their famous manual breast pump, so it didn’t really surprise me that this came so highly-rated. With an angled nipple meant to simulate breastfeeding, moms love that it is easy to clean and simulates their breast. I admire the fact that it can be easily changed into the haakaa breast pump, a drinking cup, or a storage container. Talk about 4-in-1! So while it is pricey, I do appreciate the thoughtful design, hence my higher value rating.

Silicone can be great! Credit: Como Tomo

Nipple Type: Vented | Leakage: None that I noticed | Cleaning: Easy | Value: 3.5/5

Ah, ComoTomo. You were like the popular girl at school. I wanted to like you – and I wanted you to like me! But alas, for this baby, we were not a match. While cleaning is incredibly easy and there was no noticeable leakage, my son didn’t take to the nipple and the way it collapsed so easily. It was frustrating for both of us, especially because so many people swear by this bottle and love the way it flows for their baby! Maybe my next child will like it.

Nipple Type: Triple-Vented | Leakage: A little | Cleaning: Easy | Value: 3.5/5

Maybe it’s us and silicone bottles, but we also struggled with the nanobébé silicone bottle. Again, we saw some nipples collapsing, which wasn’t great. Cleaning is super easy for these guys, which is always lovely. My only other criticism is that I wasn’t crazy about the way the cap fits on it. It almost felt like it belonged to another bottle the way it fit on.
