We Tested Two Of The Internet’s Most Expensive Linen Sheet Sets. Only One Is Worth The Investment.

In partnership with Parachute.

We like

We don't like

I love linen sheets. They’re soft but not too soft; they’re breathable; they’re temperature regulating; and they offer that relaxed-chic look of homes in magazines. I’ve written about them before, and I’ll likely write about them again: I’m on a mission to find the very best set.

So far, I’ve discovered that when it comes to linen, a little bit of an investment goes a long way. Parachute’s Linen Sheet Set, for example, isn’t exactly cheap – but it’s worth every single penny. I’ve been smitten with the brand for some time – and was ready to officially crown these sheets The Best Linen Sheets – and then I stumbled upon Coyuchi.

Coyuchi’s Organic Relaxed Linen Sheet Set is a whopping $200 more expensive than Parachute’s (for a total of $558 for a Queen set versus Parachute’s $329), so I was curious to know: do linen sheets get better and better the more you pay? Find out below.

Both brands looks gorgeous

The Players

Parachute: Parachute is known for its saturated hues and effortlessly rumpled texture that make any bed look as polished or undone as you’d like. The brand strikes an impressive balance between clean and Cali-inspired chill, with enduring quality its fans rave about.

Coyuchi: Founded over 30 years ago, Coyuchi crafts “indulgently soft, heirloom-quality” home goods inspired by nature. The brand is crafted with care for a luxurious experience, and its price tag reflects that.

Softness

Parachute: Parachute's linen sheets are renowned for their luxurious feel that somehow gets even better with each wash. While linen is known for requiring some time to “break in,” Parachute’s sheets miraculously don’t. It’s also worth noting that these sheets are the just-right amount of soft – because they’re 100% European flax linen made in Portugal, they’re crisp and substantial, and they (somehow!) don’t wrinkle, too.

A look at Coyuchi’s sheets

Coyuchi: I’ve struggled to find sheets that are as soft as Parachute’s from the jump, and Coyuchi is the most impressive competitor I’ve found. These sheets are woven in France with 100% organic flax and finished with a 100% plant-based softener. I can’t decide if I should be more impressed that I finally found a set of sheets that comes close to Parachute’s softness, or if I should really just be impressed by Parachute’s enduring excellence!

Winner: Parachute, by a smidge

Breathability

Parachute: Linen is known for being a breathable fabric, which is why I love it so much (did I mention I’m a very hot sleeper?), and this is the sheet set that converted me to the linen life. My sleep quality has improved so much with this small switch – it’s such a relief to be able to sleep through the night!

Coyuchi: I have to give Coyuchi props here: I slept through the night the first time I tried these sheets, too. I’ve really struggled to find linen sheets that actually live up to the hype, but so far, these are a really great set!

Durability

Parachute: I have had these sheets for well over a year at this point, and the only indication is how soft they’ve gotten. I shouldn’t be surprised – one of my coworkers has slept under the same Parachute duvet cover for six years – but I somehow still am. I’ve found that the quality of so many products has declined in the past few years, but that’s not the case with Parachute!

Coyuchi: I haven’t had this sheet set for nearly as long, so I can’t speak to how Coyuchi holds up over time, but unfortunately the brand’s reviews can. Multiple reviewers mention that while they were initially impressed with the quality of these sheets, they showed wear – and, in some cases, even tear – within the first year of sleeping on them (despite expert-level care!). For a sheet set that’s this expensive, that’s disappointing to hear.

Year-Round Comfort

Parachute: Temperature regulation is one of linen’s biggest draws, as the construction of the sheets means they should keep you warm in winter and cool in summer. I hardly even sleep cold (even in winter…it’s awful!) but I can attest to the brand’s year-round comfort and moisture-wicking magic. I’ve slept on these through every season, and they always deliver.

Coyuchi: While I haven’t yet slept on these sheets for an entire year, I bought them during winter and have tested them out into the early days of spring. Like Parachute’s set, these sheets really do make a difference when it comes to temperature regulation, and I’m a picky customer! Consider me impressed.

Ethics and Sustainability

Parachute: Founded with a focus on the details, Parachute’s products are meant to be enduring, making them sustainable by design. On top of that, the brand’s materials are GOTS-certified and Oeko-TexⓇ-certified.

Coyuchi: Sustainability was one of the first factors considered when Coyuchi was founded: it’s been organic for over 30 years, creates every piece in the most ethical way possible, and has implemented Circular Initiatives like a 2nd Home Take Back program and 2nd Home Renewed (pre-loved) program.

Winner: Tie

Price

Parachute: As I mentioned previously, Parachute’s Linen Sheet Set is $329 for a Queen fitted sheet, flat sheet (optional), and two pillow cases. While on the higher end for sheets, it’s considerably more affordable than Coyuchi’s.

Coyuchi: One of the most expensive sets I’ve found, Coyuchi’s Queen-size fitted sheet, flat sheet, and two pillow cases cost a whopping $558. That’s a big investment!

Winner: Parachute

I mean…

Overall Winner: Parachute

I would have crowned Parachute’s Linen Sheet Set the ever-so-slight winner based on feel and durability alone, but when you look at the price difference between these two sets, Parachute wins by a landslide. They’re similar products – both very obviously quality- and sustainably-made – and admittedly the two best linen sheet sets I’ve tried, which makes Parachute’s $329 price point suddenly feel like a huge steal. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I love these sheets, I love these sheets, I love these sheets! They’re worth every penny.
